Declarations of the favorites of the Half Triathlon Pamplona

Raúl Amatriain, Gustavo Rodríguez, Aimar Aguirresarobe, Anna Noguera, Esther Rodríguez and Natalia Raña are some of the favorites for this first edition.

This Saturday 16 de Mayo will celebrate the first edition of the Half Triathlon Pamplona Iruña, where some of the best medium distance runners will fight to get the first title of this test that was born with the aim of becoming a benchmark triathlon in the north of Spain.

Leaving at the Pantano de Alloz and finishing in Pamplona, the 500 triathletes taking part in the event will be able to experience the San Fermines circuit first hand, wrapped up by the public of the city of Pamplona.

From Triathlon News we wanted to ask some of the professionals what their expectations are for the test and how they look to face it

Raúl Amatriain @raulamatri

I think I'm doing well, recovering sensations in the training, although with the logical doubt of being the first Triathlon and see how I perform. But training well and with enthusiasm, that in the end running this Triathlon was what we were waiting for all Navarre.

The goal is the same as always, enjoy the test (more than ever) and cross the goal happy to have given everything. It is clear that running at home is a plus, so to give everything and enjoy a test that I am convinced will give you to talk.

Gustavo Rodríguez @Tavotui

In principle I'm wanting to test myself on the bike ... This year it seems that it is costing to reach a bit the level of last year on both wheels ... I'm training hard and I want to look for those sensations again. Pamplona would be a good place to find them.

Aimar Aguirresarobe @aimartri

Since last November I had to stop because of an Achilles tendon injury, I have been training very soft and after seeing that everything went better than expected I decided to compete to know how I am physically in the three disciplines.

My goal is to do a good swim (equivalent to the training I have done in the pool), pull hard on the bike, suffer on foot and finish with dignity since I have only been on foot for a few kilometers. By the way, see how the Achilles tendons respond to a competition effort and assess the current physical condition to be able to define the competition calendar.

Anna noguera

I'm looking forward to the 2º Half of the season, motivated to give everything because I'm happy with the training I've been doing during the preseason and I see myself with more solidity than last year.

I still have to keep pace because I still do not dominate the distance and sometimes I do not finish well, but I will try to do my best to try to be ahead.

Esther Rodríguez  @EstherRodriDiez

Well, despite being a very early test within the season, I have followed a good pre-season training, without altercations and feeling strong, so I hope this can be demonstrated on Saturday.

What is certain is that I will fight to the fullest to be as possible as possible. Swimming took me very well, like the race, being the bike a bit of an unknown to me, especially with respect to my opponents.

For me this distance is still a bit long, since normally I compete in Olympic distance, but already last year I gave the jump to try in the Half Distance and it went quite well, so besides the desire to compete in Pamplona, with some spectacular circuits, I'm really looking forward to squeezing and enjoy.

Natalia Raña

The prospects for Pamplona are good ... I think I will recover well and I hope to be a little better than in Lisbon. The possibility of running there arose from third place in Lisbon. It is a city where I have been able to be in a couple of occasions: one of them in San Fermín and the truth is that I keep very good memories.

The city I love, its streets, bars, pintxos ... the land of my idol of childhood ... the great Miguel Indurain ... hehehe and what motivates me the most is to think about the binge that we are going to hit at the end of the Triathlon.
