Fernando Alarza leaves the Blume and will start training with Omar Gónzalez

Fernando Alarza, the sub-champion of the world sub 23 and firm promise of the Spanish triathlon next to Mario Mola, you risk suffering a Five-month sanction away from the international competition for having competed in the World Series event in Madrid with a different monkey than the Spanish team.

Fernando, who has offered his statement to the newspaper BRAND, he comments that he did not sign the agreement for the transfer of spaces in the competition suit proposed by the Federation, considering it unacceptable to have to include its sponsors when it does not pay for trips to the competitions.

In a couple of weeks he will move to Pontevedra, where he will train at the orders of Omar Gonzalez, the preparer Javier Gómez Noya.

COMMUNIQUE Posted in Brand

At the beginning of this year the Spanish Federation informs the elite athletes that there will not be enough resources to subsidize international races, due to the economic situation and that the Federation would only have money to pay for the following tests: WCS de Madrid (currently I live in Madrid I do not generate travel expenses for the Fetri), European Championship Alanya (Turkey) and The Grand Final in London. For all the others: Auckland, San Diego, Yokohama, Kitzbühel, Hamburg and Stockholm, if we wanted to participate we had to find our own resources to finance the trips and the stays of the same ones.

We understood the situation perfectly and I and my representative put ourselves to work, trying to find sponsors with which to pay our competitions. Luckily we found brands that trusted us and in this way we obtained the essential money to be able to continue competing internationally.

The problem comes when the federation draws a first draft contract to formalize the spaces in the competition monkey, as well as the sponsors that will be reflected in it.

At first the federation proposes that in the races in which the Federation subsidizes the test (Madrid, Antalya and London) we have to take their sponsors in the main areas of the monkey, something perfectly understandable and logical.

The conflict comes when the Federation tells us that in the races, paid entirely by the athlete, should appear 3 sponsors of the Federation in the most valuable spaces of the competition monkey. This argument is totally illogical and makes it impossible for the runner to compete in these races:

At the beginning of the year they ask us to find our own resources to compete and once we get them, they tell us that these brands that supported us and financed the possibility of being there can NOT appear in the most visible space because the brands of the Federation without having paid absolutely NOTHING.

So, what am I supposed to do, what do I say now to those brands with which I have a contract? That they pay for the race but that others will appear in the competition suit? What does the contract we signed do not work? What is this because the Federation says so, period?

Of course we refused to sign such a madness and 10 days before Madrid was promised that that draft contract would be reviewed and would be ready to sign and reach an agreement the days before the WCS in Madrid.

Since that meeting days before, we had no more news of them and two days before the race they presented us the monkey of the Federation with which I was forced to compete, despite not having signed anything and the ONLY appeared some of my sponsors (in less valuable and less showy places).

Unfortunately, I was forced to run with that monkey because the Federation had worried the days before the test to homologate this new monkey as the only one to be able to compete in international events.

My surprise came when I tried to present my personal competition suit (with which I had run the last race) in which only my personal sponsors are reflected. Fortunately, the International Federation allowed me to run with him because he was still approved.

Of course I was not willing to run with the sponsors of the Federation in my chest without having signed the contract that was promised and did not appear; contract that the other triathletes did have the opportunity to have in their hands, sign them and be able to close an agreement with the Spanish Federation.

I think I did not hurt anyone by putting my own monkey with my sponsors, which are the ones I did have an agreement with me and thanks to which I can compete. And less harm even when the International Federation allowed me to run with my own racing suit.

Now from the federation it is said that I have done something wrong and I have broken the regulations. A regulation and a contract that neither have presented me nor carry my signature. Now a sanction of 5 months is posed towards me without being able to compete internationally (I would lose the possibility of fighting for the title of world champion of the ITU sub 23); and I just limited myself to respect the International regulations at all times and to comply with everything I had signed and agreed with the Spanish Federation, that is, nothing.

Above all, the question is: If I lose my sponsors and the Federation does not pay me all the races, the food, the bike, the material and the coach, how can I compete and win for Spain?
