Fernando Alarza Subchampion of the World Sub23

A splendid Fernando Alarza He was crowned Under-23 World Championship runner-up this Saturday, October 20th, in Auckland. In a thrilling race, the rider from Talavera de la Reina remained at the front of the pack throughout. Alarza delivered a high level of performance in the final race of the Triathlon World Series 2012.

 

The first to make the 1.5 km of swimming was Henri Schoeman, followed by Joshua Amberger and Aaron Royle. The best Spaniard in this segment was Fernando Alarza, who was heading to the T1 in eighth position.

During the 40 km cyclists a very large group has been formed in the lead, around 20 triathletes. However, as they progressed, some have been relegated, and with the 10 km the lead peloton had been reduced to 10 with Alarza, Davison, Bishop, Royle, Pujades and Le Corre, among others. This squad has been increasing its advantage, reaching almost 2 minutes of difference in the last lap.

Later, in the race on foot a group of six triathletes was formed, with the Toledo, Le Corre, Fisher, Royle and Bishop competing for the podium. Having reached the last of the four laps of the race on foot, the Frenchman Le Corre has launched an attack that has not come to fruition. The final meters have realized the power of the quartet that led the race, in a very technical and exciting final, with the contestants waiting for the exact moment to take a step forward.

In a tight final sprint, the Australian Aaron Royle has managed to cross the finish line in the first place. After him, just three seconds into Alarza, followed by the British Bishop.

The other two Spaniards have had different fortunes, with Vicente Hernández reaping a meritorious 18ª square. While the Galician Uxío Abuín has been forced to leave entered the cycling sector
