Flora Duffy wins the Hamburg World Series

Thanks to an explosive relay in the cycling sector reached the head of the race that remained until the end.

Today was held in the German city of Hamburg, the fifth appointment of the Triathlon World Series where we had three representatives in the women's event. Carolina Routier, Anna Godoy e Inés Santiago.

Among the favorites were Kristen Kasper current leader of the circuit, Flora Duffy winner in Leeds and Yokohama, Andrea Hewitt, winner this year in Gold Coast and Abu Dhabi,  Katie Zaferes, second in the Ranking, Ashleigh Gentle, Ai Ueda o  Lucy Hall or among others.

The race started at 14: 00 in the afternoon, where the participants faced 750 meters of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running on an afternoon where time has accompanied as the room temperature was 19 º centigrade.

The first to leave the water was the Brazilian Vittoria Lopez followed by Carolina Routier, one of the best swimmers on the circuit and by Kristen Krasper. The 9 first came to just 9 seconds, which promised an exciting bike sector from the first moment looking to break the race.

In the first round a first platoon was formed, where were Carolina Routier and Inés Santiago, Flora Duffy and Kristen Krasper among others.

Duffy did not wait and threw a hard attack to break the lead group leaving with Krasper and Deartmont and where he was increasing the advantage over a number of pursuer group where was Routier, Godoy, Santiago, Hall, Gentle, Klamer or Andrea Hewwit that happened to 20 seconds in the second round.

In the step by the fourth round, Cassandra Beaugrand, European champion in 2016, suffered a hard fall that forced her to retire with the Japanese Ide. The fall also involved the Spanish Anna Godoy, but without consequences and quickly returned to get on the bike. Inés Santiago also lost the head chasing group, where Carolina Routier who passed in first positions was not affected by the fall.

In the absence of 7 km for the end of the segment, Duffy in a tough relay left his pursuers, where he was increasing the advantage to reach the T2 alone with a lead of 25 seconds over Kristen Krasper and Jessica Deartmont. The squad with Carolina Routier, Lucy Hall, Gentle, Hewwit, or Klamer among others reached 50 seconds of Duffy.

In the last 5 km of foot race Flora Duffy He knew how to maintain his advantage to get his third victory in this WTS season with a time of 58: 59.

The second classified was Ashleigh Gentle  31 seconds in a spectacular race segment that allowed her to climb positions and go solo until the goal. 

The third position was close and disputed by Andrea Hewwit, Katie Zaferes, Laura Lindemann and Jolanda Annen where finally, Laura Lindemann in a quick sprint against Zaferes he got the final bronze.

Carolina Routier He finished in the 19ª position, which is his best performance this year in World Series, Inés Santiago finished the 30ª and  Anna Godoy in the 34 position.
