Joan Rivireta and Chesea Burns win the Half Triathlon Vitoria 2014

triathletes took the start this morning in the HALF Triathlon Vitoria-Gasteiz test in this international event that, along with the IRON test, has had a total of 21 countries represented and more than 1.600 participants.

 

 

Due to the fog, the start had to be delayed for a few minutes, starting with the 8 in the morning with the first of the starts. In the men's test, and in the head of the swimming we saw Víctor Manuel González with almost a minute of advantage over the second triathlete, Joan Ruvireta and with more than two minutes on the Portuguese and one of the favorites of the test, Jose Estrangeiro.

 

Already on a bike Joan Rivureta It had a strong rhythm that allowed it to reach the head by climbing a position, although behind it, less than two minutes away, was the pursuer group formed by Jose Estrangeiro, Oscar Vicente , Aimar Agirresarobe y Víctor Manuel González .

 

Arrived at the T2 and already on the streets of Vitoria, the first to start the race segment on foot was Joan Rivureta continued by Aimar Agirresarobe and in third position Jose Estrangeiro to 2: 20, where Joan Rivureta it was increasing the differences leading from beginning to end this segment and achieving the deserved title of winner of the HALF test in the Triathtlon Vitoria-Gasteiz, with a final time of 4: 02: 46 and followed by Jose Estrangeiro (4:07:28), which climbed to second place, reaching the finish line 5 minutes after the winner and in third place completing the podium Aimar Aguiresarobe (4:07:48) 20 seconds behind the Portuguese.

The Portuguese Jose Estrangeiro who promised to make this event spectacular, he did so, after going very close to Aimar Agirresarobe throughout the route in the last kilometers of the foot race, he managed to climb one position and thus take second place on the podium  "The water and the cyclist segment was doing it with head holding positions and I was waiting for the race on foot to come back, but my legs did not give me until the last kilometers, where I managed to push and get the second place. years in the city of Vitoria, with these spectacular circuits and its public and I am very happy to achieve this result here ".  Meanwhile Aimar Agirresarrobe he commented "During the whole circuit I was fine, keeping the position, I tried to push on the race on foot, as we were very tight, but not dosing was not the right decision and I finally picked up a position, still very happy for having been able to return to run through the streets of Vitoria "

 

In the female category, the first to leave the water was Chelsea Burns  followed by Esther Rodríguez to 15 seconds. In third position more than 2 minutes left Veronica Aveni. Gurutze Frades y Natalia Raña came out in 4º and 5º position respectively to more than 4 minutes of the British.

 

 

Already in the cycling sector Esther Rodríguez I reach the British at the head of the race, where they set a strong rhythm that helped them gradually pick up Natalia Raña and Gurutze Frades.

 

In the final part of the cycling sector Chesea Burns took the lead starting the race on foot with 37 second ahead of Esther Rodriguez and 4: 34 over the local triathlete Guruzte Frades.

 

Already in foot race from the first moment the British Chelsea Burns  he imposed a strong rhythm that helped him achieve a comfortable victory with a final time of 4: 35: 11, followed by Esther Rodríguez (4: 44: 06) and of Gurutze Frades (4: 45: 36).

 

The winner, used to competing in Sprint and Olympic distance, commented "I am very happy with the result, it is my first test in Half distance and although it was hard and very fast I loved the circuit and I enjoyed it throughout the race".
