The 31st edition of Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote closes registrations in a week
More than 1.000 triathletes will participate in the test
El Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, one of the international reference tests in long distance triathlon, will celebrate its thirty-first edition the next 20 for May.
The 3,8 kilometer swim, 180,2 kilometers above sea level bike and 42,2m in running are a huge challenge, only within the reach of ambitious and passionate athletes.
More than 1.000 triathletes in the test
More than 1.000 triathletes who fit that description have already registered and will be in Lanzarote next month putting themselves to the test.
Since the first edition in 1992 with 148 participants, the HOMBRE DE HIERRO Lanzarote has grown year after year, both in number of participants and in other equally important areas.
Again, Green Sport Flag
In terms of sustainability, IRONMAN Lanzarote will follow the example of IRONMAN 70.3 in March and will have GPS buoys in the swimming segment.
Since these types of buoys are not anchored to the seabed, they do not damage it and protect its biodiversity.
In addition, in the final stretch that leads to the finish line, LED screens will be used with the logos of the sponsors, thus avoiding the use of non-recyclable material.
Another year, the Green Sports Flag will fly again, demonstrating the non-negotiable commitment of the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote with sustainability.
The circuits
Puerto del Carmen will host both the segment of swimming in Playa Blanca like the foot race.
As for the cycling segment, the triathletes will visit spectacular places, such as La Geria or Mirador del Río, they will reach the north of the island and return to Puerto del Carmen.
Government support
The Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Lanzarote European Sports Destination and the Town Hall of Tías, the host municipality of the event, are part of the collaborating entities, whose support and help make it easier for Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote to grow with each edition.
In addition to Tías, the involvement of the other six Lanzarote town halls is essential for the optimal development of the event. The work of the Civil Guard and the local police, as well as the involvement of volunteers, are also essential for this.
75 Slots for the World Cup
As for slots qualifiers for the IRONMAN World Championship, this edition of the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote will award a total of 75.
Those triathletes who want to be in Nice in September -in the case of the men's World Cup- or in Kona in October -for the women's World Cup- will find in Lanzarote a good opportunity to achieve the place they deserve.
