Jan Frodeno beats the Ironman 70.3 California record. Albert Moreno Top 10

On a perfect day for triathlon practice, Jan Frodeno set a new test record with a final time of 3:49:25.

 

 

The German Jan Frodeno, Olympic triathlon champion in Beijing 2008, has achieved victory in the Ironman 70.3 California in Oceanside (USA). Albert Moreno He has made a great performance and has achieved tenth place. In the female category the victory was the Canadian Heather Wurtele.

 

Andy Potts, was the first in the swim with Frodeno and James Seear (AUS) right behind. 30 '' later a group came out with Kyle Leto (USA, Jens Toft (DIN), Brent McMahon (CAN) and Matt Chrabot (USA). Record ironman rider Andrew Starycowicz came out 2 minutes after the leaders.

 

In cycling, Potts, Frodeno Chrabot put up a high pace from the beginning, getting in the 55 km XUMUM minutes of advantage over a group that were Kienle, McMahon, Joe Gamble (AUS), Kevin Collington (USA), Starykowicz , Leon Griffen (AUS) and Matt Reed (USA).

 

In the last part of the cycling sector,  Starycowicz (who has the cycling record in Ironman and Ironman 70.3) reached and went to the head of the race, arriving first at T2, followed by Frodeno at 5 seconds, by Potts at 17 seconds and Chrabot at 28 seconds. The chasing group led by Kienle reached 1'30 "

 

Frodeno who invested a time of 1:11:49 in going through the 21 managed to establish the record of the test stopping the clock at 3:49:25. Andy Potts came in second followed by Sebastian Kienle, Joe Gamble and Brent McMahon. Albert Moreno with a great time in the race 1:15:19 got the tenth place.

 

Shortly after the victory, Frodeno declared that he gives up competing in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship as he wants to focus on him. Ironman World Championship from Hawaii.

 

In the women's race Meredith Kessler (USA), Julie Dibens (GBR) and Jennifer Spieldenner (USA) dominated the swimming sector.

 

Julie Dibens, who had not competed in Triathon since leaving the Ironman World 2011, dominated the cycling sector reaching T2 with 2 minutes over Wurtele and Jackson.

 

Heather  Würtele with a time of 1: 17: 56 in completing the 21 km I go up positions until obtaining the victory of the test getting the 19º position of the general. Heather Jackson I enter second position one minute later and in third position Meredith Kessler.
