Javier Gómez Noya: "Abu Dhabi is not a main objective of the season"

Saturday sees the start of the 2015 world series in Abu Dhabi

 

 

On Saturday the World Series that awards the world title of the international triathlon federation begins in Abu Dhabi. There will be 10 qualifying appointments between March and September on the five continents, alternating the Sprint and Olympic distances.

Of Abu Dhabi is on the minor (750m, 20km, 5km) and the world champion does not arrive at its best after a few days with a fever in Fuerteventura and contracture in the gluteus in the triathlon Average Distance from Dubai Friday 27 February.

From there he traveled to Abu Dhabi on Saturday and has been able to train in triathlon tours. With enough guarantees to make the decision to compete but aware that it will not be able to perform at its best: "I am not in the best condition, since the last weeks I had several setbacks. This sprint distance race is not a main objective of the season, as my training was more focused for the Dubai middle distance race, but unfortunately it did not go as expected. Anyway, I will try to do my best, and this race will help me to get into competition rhythm".

The competition is going to be very tough, since among the 65 registered are almost all the best of last season. The exception is the Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee, who being pre-registered has been terminated and there has been no official communication of the reason. But being on Sprint distance, the range of candidates for victory is higher than when it is on the Olympic. 

They will accompany Galician, Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) and Mario Mola (ESP), which have already demonstrated their strength in this type of competition, although  Richard Murray (RSA) and Joao Pereira (POR) They can also sprint like the best.

The Spanish representation is abundant with 11 participants, Javier Gómez Noya, Mario MolaFernando AlarzaVicente HernándezCesc Godoy y David Castro in the male category, while in females they will participate Ainhoa ​​Murua,  María OrtegaTámara GómezMiriam Casillas y Melina Alonso.

The 750m swim is a 1 turn with a rectangular shape. The 20km of cycling to 4 flat turns through wide avenues with several closed turns. And the 5km on foot in 2 turns also flat and with several turns in which you can visually check the reference with the rest.
