Javier Gómez Noya heads the preselection of the Multideporte World Championship in Pontevedra

The FETRI has published the Pre-Selection FETRI for the Multidimensional World Championship Pontevedra 2019

Following the publication of the official selection criteria of 2019, the Spanish Triathlon Federation has just announced a first Spanish Pre-Selection for the Multisport World Championships to be held in late April and early May in Pontevedra.

Duathlon World Championship

In the Duathlon World Championship will not miss one of the international duathlon references, Emilio Martín, who after his European medal in Ibiza, will seek to return to the World Cup with the French team again as the main threat.

In the women's event we will have one of the biggest names in the Ibiza Multisport European Championship last year, the young Irene Loizate who won a magnificent absolute podium and sub23 championship, and will seek his assault on the world podium.

The remaining places will be won by the athletes, according to the official criteria, in the Eagles Classification and in the Championship of Spain by Clubs of Punta Umbría.

Cross Triathlon World Championship

On the MTB, competing in the Cross Triathlon World Championship, Spain will also travel to Galician lands with a great roster, headed by the current World Champion (4 gold and 2 silver in Cross ITU World Championship), Rubén Ruzafa, which will seek to maintain its global dominion in this discipline.

Kevin Tarek Viñuela, Champion of Spain the last seasons and sub23 medalist in the Europeans of Ibiza, will also be a great asset in Pontevedra. On the other hand, Laura Gomez, Runner-up of Europe last October in Ibiza, will seek to repeat the podium, this time around the world.

To complete the campus, the Technical Department will have Camilo Puertas y Rocío Espada, when not disputed test of Duathlon Cross in Pontevedra and after his good results in the past European Championship of this discipline.

Long Distance Triathlon World Championship

The last major event of the Multideporte World Championships will be the Long Distance Triathlon, where Spain presents 10 with big names to fight for the medals. After an incredible 2018 in terms of performance and results, the current World Champion and European Sub-champion of Long Distance Triathlon, Pablo Dapena, will seek to revalidate his title at home, by the circuits in which he usually trains.

Some circuits that Galician knows well Gustavo Rodríguez, Champion of Spain of Long and Medium Distance Triathlon, who will join the World Cup with great enthusiasm after losing his European Half Distance distance from Ibiza.

These two men will be united, Javier Gómez Noya, as already announced, returns to the ITU tests in 2019 with the sights set on the Olympic qualification of Tokyo'20 but without neglecting the long distance and even less when the great World Cup is held in their homeland. Three Galicians eager to perform at home, and they will not be alone, as the selection will be completed with Catalan Albert Moreno, bronze in the European Championship of Triathlon Media Distancia and that will seek to repeat the podium he got in Ibiza, and the Basque runner-up of Spain in 2018, Ander Okamika.

In the female output, we will have Gurutze Frades y Anna Noguera, both present at the World Cups last year, seeking in this new World Cup event to improve their positions. Saleta Castro, which we saw last year competing in club league sprint and supersprint events to help her team, continues to be a reference in the national long distance and will fight for a great place in this World Championship held in her Natal Pontevedra.

They will close this preselection  Judith Corachán, triathlete experienced in international long distance races, and the runners-up of the Spanish Cup of Medium and Long Distance Triathlon 2018, María Pujol.
