The application NoDopApp allows to know if a medicine contains prohibited substances in sports

The Spanish Agency for the Protection of Health in Sports launches an application for mobile phones and computers that allows to see if a medicine authorized in Spain contains any substance included in the List of Prohibited Substances in Sport.

NoDopApp is a free application for mobile phones and computers developed by the Spanish Agency for the Protection of Health in Sport (AEPSAD) allows the user to consult in an easy and accessible way if a medicine authorized in Spain contains any substance that is included in the "List of Substances and Methods Prohibited in Sport"Each year is published in the BOE by Resolution of the Higher Sports Council.

This tool, whose free download is now available for devices with the Android operating system through the GooglePlay store (soon it will also be available for APPLE devices and the Windows environment), offers the possibility of knowing this information by entering the name of the medicine or the active ingredient or by entering the reference of the medicine that will be found in the upper right part of the container.

The application will indicate whether the substances contained in the medicine or the active ingredient consulted are included in the List of Substances and Prohibited Methods in Sport.

In the event that the substance is not always prohibited, but only under certain conditions (route of administration, applied dose, sport, control during competition), it will also be specified. Users also have the option of sending inquiries or comments to AEPSAD through the application, as well as receiving notifications of interest about health in sports practice and doping.

The data in this application are those existing in the registry of drugs authorized by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) and the information on doping substances is based on the List of Substances and Methods Prohibited in Sport in force.

This list is published each year in Spain in the BOE within the framework of international commitments and obligations assumed by the Spanish government and, in particular, within the framework of the UNESCO Anti-Doping Convention. The signatory countries of this Convention, among the found in Spain, approve and adopt in this way the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
