Marcel Zamora wins his fourth Embrunman with great authority

The Barcelonan Marcel Zamora He managed to further expand his legend in long distance triathlons. After his resignation to take part this year in the Nice Ironman, his great goal of the summer months was focused on the demanding Embrunman that this year reached its 30ª edition.

The Barcelonan prevailed in the hardest long distance triathlon on the planet with a time of 9 hours and 42 minutes.

The competition, which takes place in the French Alps, is made up of 3.800 by swimming, 188km by bicycle - with positive slope of 5000m and maximum altitude 2361m- and ends with a marathon.

After the stretch of swim, Marcel was in the group chasing favorite, composed of three triathletes who gave 4 minutes on the head of the race, which was the Australian Todd Skipworth, that after the first bicycle ports came to extend its advantage to 9 minutes 30 seconds.

But everything changed in the special category Col, with the attack of Marcel, who quickly closed the gap. From km 150 of the cycling section, Marcel was already the solo leader and started the race on foot with an advantage of more than 11 minutes over the Australian, who was physically severely impaired after also suffering several incidents. Zamora finished the race by completing the marathon walking distance in 2 59 hours and minutes for a final time of 9h42: 19. Second was the French Hervé Fauré with 2h: 54: 35 and third James Cunaama 9h: 58: 26.

Zamora achieved in this way his fourth victory in this competition (the previous ones were in 2009, 2010 and 2012) showing that their 35 years continues to be the great reference of this distance in Spain.
