The fourth time winner of the test IBERMAN, two in Media Distancia and another two in the Long Distance format, tells us why he recommends this test to all our readers.

How do you prepare a Long Distance test?

With respect to the preparation of long distance triathlons, there is no secret jejeje, you know that it is effort and sacrifice, it is not easy for anyone who works and does not have time to train this type of competitions, give up social life and family

This sacrifice is the hardest, because there are moments in your life that you lose and do not repeat (in my case are family events), give up certain things cost a lot, but behind this is your challenge, your goal , your personal satisfaction ... This can with this internal struggle of "why am I missing this?", especially because you are renouncing to be with people you know who understand you and always support you, and do not get angry but go to be with them!

Due to my work I can not train the hours that I would like and that are necessary to reach a higher level, therefore from Monday to Friday I have few hours to train and tried to combine them as best as possible.

I try to train two disciplines a day, the day that I train the least is one hour and the rest between 2 and 3 hours, but when the weekend comes it is where I make the most volume.

On Saturday I can train up to 4 hours and on Sunday 5 hours, in one of them I train the three disciplines .... this rhythm during 2 months before the Ironman, alternating trainings with competitions (for example: half ironman, half marathons, duathlons), and two weeks before the race under the volume and the rhythm to reach the 100% and with a lot of desire to compete !!! =

 

 

What do you like most about IBERMAN?

First of all, what is striking about the IBERMAN tests is the cost of registration together with the hotel ... .. It is the most economical price-quality ratio in all of EUROPE, because I, who participated in all four editions, can say that the Organization is spectacular, the stay in the hotels are of quality !!!

Second, there are two novel aspects ... in the medium distance, the departure from the barges is a pass and a scoop in Spain, in the long distance, we highlight that it is the first Ironman in the world that is made between two piase and the spectacular nature of the landscapes, in my mind I have recorded the crossing of the bridge between Huelva and Portugal running ... .. They are beautiful images ... ..

Then I also emphasize that in the place where there is a lot of atmosphere, people cheering especially at the entrance to the goal .... is very pretty….

Going back to the organization ... the refreshments are very well located, I do not lack anything and I have to highlight and say again that with the registration fee the refreshment and organization are outstanding ... .. because if you want to compare it with the Ironman brand and the poor quality to organization and supplies for the high price you have to pay!

I think that anyone does not give up this and many other things that Jose and I miss, another advantage in my favor is that my husband competes and trains for the same as me ... .. his support is essential when you have no desire to train and you have to go out and do it, it's an advantage in my favor ... Although before I knew him, I was like a wrestler, he really characterized me for fighting and achieving my goals until the end, whatever the cost ...

You have won 4 Iberman tests, tell us why you chose it?

In the case of competing in the Iberman and get to win in its four editions (2 half distances and 2 long distances), it is something special, I signed up for the first test that you organized because I was surprised by the swimming sector, the peculiarity of going out to swim from a barge and current in favor (I am a bad swimmer), it was special and different, I had little experience in triathlons because I had not competed for a year, but it was something different from the usual I had to try ... .

The route of the bicycle was very beautiful and different from other triathlons of this distance where this tour is done in a circuit circling it, this being very monotonous, in this case it was different and I also wanted to do it ... .. and in the race on foot, running across a natural park and ending the journey with a few kilometers along the beach ... .. it was beautiful ... ..

 

 In short, a half Ironman highly recommended if we add the quality-price feature, the most economical and best organized throughout Spain!

 

 

All this together with my long distance profile, made me join the Iberman Long Distance ... .. another unforgettable experience for me, tours in the three spectacular sectors, highlighting that we competed in two countries, beautiful crossing the bridge running through Spain with Portugal !!!

Returning to mention that the organization was 10, buffet refreshments, where there was everything and you had to stop to think that you chose to take your stomach .... something that other renowned events "IRONMAN" lack where they do not give you a miserable bottle of water for 500 eur that costs the registration, well .... in general terms recommended event 100% !!!

We continue with the third event Iberman, medium distance ... That year and after my experience in the previous year, I could not miss my calendar, I signed up and there I went to give everything, there was a lot of level and it was very difficult to get the same result than in the previous year.

 The same course in swimming, the bicycle route was modified with respect to the previous year, but very nice also and in the sector on foot, we ran through the town of Ayamonte, with the support of the whole town animating in each section of the same . Finally I got a new victory, fighting for the first position after a good race on foot!

And as a climax to my precious experience with Iberman, I could not miss the Iberman Long distance that was held 14 June 2014, unforgettable day for me, it was my birthday hehehe and although it came a bit touched because not even a month had passed to have competed in the IRONMAN DE LANZAROTE (17 of May), that day was mine, unforgettable, precious, suffered ... .. but getting the best reward ... .. another Iberman victory.

Here it should be noted in addition to the hardness of it for the heat it did in the bicycle sector, this being different from the previous year (in this case it was the opposite of the previously carried out Portugal-Spain), a race on foot that ended in the term of Vila Real de San Antonio in Portugal, crossing again that magnificent International Bridge of the Guadiana that unites Spain with Portugal !! Impressive experience lived with all the support of the people who enjoyed the event and who knew me from the three Iberman editions held previously, I knew it was not my day, I had to suffer, but I was going to give everything because I had to get it and because I did not I could defraud the people who bet on me and who knew that I would achieve another great success.

This victory goes for them and because without their encouragement and support I would not have achieved it !!!
