Thousands of triathletes will take Cascais on the fifth anniversary of IRONMAN in Portugal
The test will close registrations on October 7
On October 15, a new edition of the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal.
The two tests will be held on the same day so thousands of triathletes will turn Portugal into the European epicenter of triathlon.
This 2022 will be the fifth anniversary of the celebration of the first edition of the IRONMAN in Cascais.
World Triathlon Corporation chose Cascais to launch its brand in Portugal with the IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal Cascais in 2017 and four years later, in 2021, to expand it with the first edition of the full-distance IRONMAN.
Now the two tests are held on the same day.
The city has never coordinated so many human and logistical resources to have a double event of this magnitude, in a single day.
The organization had to make the decision as an alternative to the impact on the mobility of
Circuits
The single lap swim segment in the Bay of Cascais It leaves from Praia da Ribeira and ends in front of the Fortress at the Clube Naval.
The cycling segment offers stunning views of the Portuguese Riviera, Guincho beach and the wonderful natural park of Sintra – Cascais.
This year, thanks to the improvements made to the course, it will allow athletes to ride on roads of rare scenic beauty.
A quick walk through Praia do Guincho leads to Malveira and Serra de Sintra, next to the Blue Lagoon, towards the Estoril Formula 1 Circuit.
With a new course this year, athletes will be able to enjoy smoother roads that will take them to the turning point in Lisbon, passing through some of the icons of the Portuguese capital, such as the Belém Tower, the Jerónimos Monastery, and even under the 25 de Abril Bridge.
The foot race starts in Cascais to continue along the Guincho road along the coast to Cabo Raso to return back to Cascais.
In this segment triathletes will have a great public support especially with a new passage in Marina de Cascais, with cheers that will take you to the finish line.
Last days of registration
You can still participate in both tests since the registration process is still open and will close tomorrow October 7th.
If you want to experience triathlon in a different way in a spectacular event, don't think about it and end the season in the best way in Cascais.
