The triple IRONMAN world champion, Mirinda Carfrae, announces her retirement from triathlon

The triple IRONMAN world champion, the Australian Mirinda Carfrae, has just announced his retirement from professional triathlon after a 21-year career and with 7 podiums in Kona.

Mirinda won in hawaii 3 times (2010, 2013 and 2014) and was in second position on three other occasions (2009, 2011 and 2016). He also won the IRONMAN 70.3 world title in 2007 and the ITU world title in 2005.

She announced it in a YouTube video with her husband Tim O'Donnell.

"One big announcement I have to make is that I will be officially retiring from professional racing.

I guess this has been coming. Last year racing my heart wasn't fully in it anymore and I didn't know if I would continue racing this year until after Kona…. I am retiring because I want to spend more time with my family and I don't feel like I have nothing more to give to triathlon as a professional athlete.l "
