Javier Gómez Noya in Hamburg: "I have made two mistakes that are paid for in such a short career"

Javier got a great fourth in the sixth round of the World Triathlon series in Hamburg

Despite not being able to dispute the victory in the final straight, the result of Javier Gómez Noya can be considered as very good for two reasons: it serves to rule out in general the 6º position in London, staying with 4 victories and this 4º; and that the first two of the test -Alistair Brownlee and the Frenchman Vincent Luis - are far in the general and are not rivals for the world title.

After a swim with the very stretched group in which Javi made landfall in 10ª position, a platoon of 17 was formed in the first of the 6km urban laps of 3,3km.

The presence in it of the Brownlees guaranteed that it was going to go very quickly since the English brothers do not know more tactics than to go to the top. Gómez Noya relieved with them to prevent those of the next platoon in which they were from hunting Mario Mola and Richard Murray, candidates for victory if they reached the second transition together. They achieved the goal and got off the bike with a 35-second lead.

Alistair Brownlee started to run at full speed from the first stride, and could only be followed by his brother Jonatahan, the French Luis and Javi. The Olympic champion in London was always in the lead until he managed to go solo to achieve his first victory this season in the World Series. Javier went down in the absence of a kilometer and just crossed the 4º goal.

The 2ª square was for Luis, something that is better in Galician than if it had been Jonathan Brownlee 2º. In addition the Mario Mola, despite a great comeback could only be 9, it means that the Mallorcan does not add points in the general since it needed to be 7 to do it:

"I have committed two failures that are paid in such a short race: throw too much by bike instead of letting others do it; and I was wrong to count the laps since I thought there was one more left and I got delayed in the transition which caused me to lose a few 5 seconds that I had to recover by going out to run at full speed. But in any case the result is good for the general. I get more advantage to Mario Mola and although Jonathan has recovered points, he continues very far. Whatever happens at the next meeting in Stockholm, I will arrive as leader at the Edmonton final. Now I'm going to rest for a week and after that I'll start a new cycle of training ahead of the final phase of the season. "
