Javier Gómez Noya: "Starting the second of the two laps, seeing that I was comfortable and that there were only two of us in the lead, I pushed and took an advantage that allowed me to win"

Javier Gómez Noya managed to make history getting his second world title in 7 days.

Yesterday was a fast day where Javier Gómez Noya gave a whole recital imposing itself in the IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 followed by Jan Frondeno y Tim Don third.

In the 2km of swimming he was already in the lead, something that came in as expected. During the 90 of cycling (with the classic regulation that prevents going to the wheel or in the peloton) it was always close to the head, reaching the 2ª transition 10 triathletes separated by just half a minute: ¨In cycling I have been controlling that they did not escape me. It has benefited me that there was a gap because climbing I have found very well. On a totally flat course, I may have lost time to people more accustomed than me to riding the goat bike. "

In the 21 km on foot he soon took the lead, side by side with the German Frodeno (Olympic champion in Beijing) easily leaving the rest behind. Towards the middle of the route he was able to pick him up to take advantage until he stabilized between 30 and 45 seconds, difference with which he crossed the finish line: "Starting the second of the two laps, seeing that I was comfortable and that only two of us were in the lead, I tightened and took an advantage that allowed me to win. Obviously the third phase has been long but I have not finished empty. I am very happy about the result and the support I have received from the public and the organization. " The podium was completed by another historic triathlon, the British Tim Don, Olympic distance world champion in 2006.

After this new success, his season is not over yet as he has a triathlon left in Beijing (where he will travel directly from Canada) next Sunday and the Garmin Barcelona the 5 in October
