Patrik Nilsson and Emma Bilham win the Ironman 70.3 Barcelona. Victor de Corral ninth

An exciting foot race sector where Nilsson has completed the 21 km in 1:13:08 getting the final victory

 

Today has been held in the town of Calella a new edition of the Ironman 70.3 Barcelona where more than 2.000 triathletes took the start.

 

On the starting list there was a good level of professionals where we could find triathletes of the stature of Alessandro Degasperi, Bertrand Billard, Maurice Clavel, Victor del Corral, Domenico Passuello, or Sylvain Sudrie among others.

In the female category Nikki Bartlett Emma Bilham Camille Donat, Emma Pallant and Regula Rohrbach started as the favorites.

The swimming sector of 1,9 km was very fast and among the first ones there were not many differences, the first being the Spanish Guillen Rojas

Already on the tough cycling circuit, Maurice Clavel was imposing his strong rhythm to advance positions and reach T2 in first position with more than a minute of advantage over Patrik Nilsson, and close to fourth over Sylvai Sudrie, Miguel Ángel Fidalgo was the The first Spaniard to run in ninth position, Víctor del Corral came in 16th place.

In the 21 km of running Maurice Clavel was the leader throughout the sector, however Patrik Nilsson was cutting distance little by little until finally in a nice sprint Patrik nilsson   got the victory with a time of 04:04:55 followed in second position by Maurice Clavel  (04: 05: 30) by Sylvain Sudrie (4: 11: 22) occupying the third final position.

Victor del Corral with a large race segment on foot finally entered the ninth final position.Miguel Ángel Fidalgo I enter the 11ª position staying only at 13 seconds to enter the TOP10.

In the women's category, the first to get out of the water was Heather Lendway followed by Carina Brechters, leading a second group by more than 1 minute.

After completing the 90 km of cycling, the first to reach T2 was Emma Bilham, followed by Bianca Steurer after more than 6 minutes.

In the running race Emma bilham He managed to maintain his advantage to get the victory with a time of 04: 38: 42, followed in second position by Emnma Pallant (04:41:32) and by Bianca steurer (4: 49: 58) occupying the third place on the podium.
