Previous Spain Duathlon Long Distance Championship of Orihuela

The next 23 in February at the 9: 00 will be held the Spanish Long Distance Duathlon Championship in the Alicante town of Orihuela, where the champions of Spain of this modality will come out.

 

More from 300 athletes They will face the initial 16 km of running on 2 laps of a demanding trail-type circuit, with small slides and two strong ups-downs. For the most part on packed earth. Once finished, they will find 66 km of cycling where they will have to do two laps of a hard circuit, on asphalt, with a positive slope of around 470 m to finish with 8,2 km of running on foot completing 1 lap of the same circuit of the 1st sector.

 

 

Among the favorites we find Raúl Amatriain y Alejandro Santamaría although it will be necessary to take into account Fernando Gómez, Carlos Aznar, Lluis Villa, Emilio Suárez and Alejandro Jiménez among others.

 

In statements made to TN Raúl Amatriain comments: "I feel good, the truth is that I am happy with how the preseason is going. The training sensations are being good and above all I have regained the desire and motivation. I recovered a little the sensations of the first season, enjoying a little more of all this and the desire to go to the races.

 

On foot I think I'm going well and by bike, with the new Pinarello goat I'm more comfortable and I think I fit better. Also this year we had a much better winter than last year, with what I could get something more to the road.

 

We must also be aware of the month in which we are, it is early and you can see who has started strong. For the rest, it is a distance that I have never done, that gives me respect, because you have to know how to regulate well, especially the first run on foot, but since I saw it I wanted to try and dispute it.

 

I have seen the inscribed a little above, I know that there are good duathletes but I think that if everything goes normal, I can be fighting forward, I do not know why, because as I say the test gives me a lot of respect, but I'll try to give everything and happy."

 

Meanwhile Alejandro Santamaria he says: "It is the first competition of the year and I have not played a duathlon of this level for a long time. But I'm really looking forward to it.

 

The Duathlon has always been good for me and I would like to be able to dispute it to the fullest. It will be difficult because it is a Spanish Championship but I hope to play it to the fullest"

 

 And in the female category they start as favorites Helena Herreno, Anna Rovira,  Sara Bonilla y Eva Valero among others.

 

Helena Herrero  that part as a favorite is doubt until the last minute since it suffers tendinitis that does not allow it to run. For its part Eva Valero comments to TN, that the test is taken as a quality training for its great objective, which is the Lanzarote Ironman.

 

Anna Rovira He tells us: "After a 2011 and 2012 and a first year with great results and experiences and a 2013 at all times with the shadow of the injury to the abductor and right psoas, this 2014 I feel physically and mentally strong, especially wanting to enjoy the races. We arrived with homework done. At all times we have followed the training and advice of Santi Pellejero.
