A demanding and hard tour highlights again in the fifth edition of Desafío Doñana
The test, to be held this Saturday, has the private collaboration of important companies in the sector, communication, health and nutrition
El Doñana national park is going to be one of the main protagonists for the fifth time Doñana Challenge This multi-adventure event that will be held next Saturday, 20 in September, will go through this unique natural space in the world for its singularities and for its vast extension. They will cross 30 km of virgin beach sand in the segment of race on foot with departure and arrival in Punta de Malandar, novel route of the previous edition but that can not be done because of the last minute change carried out by issues unrelated to the organization.
Touring the National Park is possibly the most impressive point of competition for athletes enrolled in the event. On their virgin arena the triathletes have to complete 30 kilometers of running on foot practically alone. It is a shocking adventure for professionals and amateur athletes who compete, since a long distance triathlon has never been developed on a super protected and closed natural space like this until the first edition was held at 2009.
The passage through the Doñana National Park corresponds to the third segment of the race, the foot race. The triathletes, after completing 90 km in bike through the province of Cadiz and swim across the Guadalquivir (1 km), they arrive at Punta de Malandar, on the opposite shore of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. In Malandar they put on their slippers running and faces a real challenge: completing 30 km alone on the sand, with the Atlantic Ocean to the left, the dunes to the right, and seagulls, turtles and other animal species crossing the path of the heroes who are heading for the final section of this race that is unique in the world due to its physiognomy and the space in which it takes place.
It is a concept of "live" route, dependent on tides and currents of the Guadalquivir River and that runs through places and environments of singular beauty and sensitivity such as the mouth of the Guadalquivir and Doñana National and Natural Park. The competition is not exclusive for athletes specialized in long distance events. It is also focused on cyclists, runners or duathletes who want to participate in a new formula of extreme triathlon. In addition, the formula of relay teams is a great opportunity to participate with friends and colleagues
To maintain and support the protectionist policy that is responsible for monitoring the preservation of Doñana, no motor vehicle outside the park can step on this long and beautiful beach, which implies an important organizational effort to maintain attention on athletes and volunteers. Before, during and after the passage of the triathletes, an entire operation is started so that nothing changes the normal running of this space, with special attention to cleanliness.
The fifth edition of Desafío Doñana takes place on Saturday 20 in September under a surprising and exciting format very innovative in the world of long distance triathlon, starting with the bicycle segment, then swimming and finally the race on foot through the Park National of Doñana.
The Doñana Challenge 2014 is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía with the technical support of the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, and with the collaboration of the municipalities of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María , Rota and Chipiona and the Doñana Natural Area.
All the information about the competition can be followed through the official competition page: www.desafiodonana.com and on the test's social media profiles: www.facebook.com/desafiodonana y http://twitter.com/desafiodonana.
An important private collaboration
Desafío Doñana is a test that since its inception has always had the confidence of companies that have wanted to collaborate in the competition. One of them is Infisport, which since the first edition is present in the competition and will provide energy supplement to athletes who participate. Another sponsor is Vodafone, which will provide free Wi-Fi access in the Expo Zone. They are also Coca Cola sponsors, through the Powerade brand, which will also provide their energy drinks, as well as Acquajet, who will be the one who contributes all the water necessary for the development of the test.
In addition, local companies such as Infex and Tritienda, as well as GM Technology, a hundred percent Andalusian company and leader in the printing sector, will also contribute their grain of sand. This year we will have QAPSADE (Quality in the Personalized Health Care of the Athlete) that, during the 19 Friday in the Expo Zone, will offer studies of the footprint and the backbone to 24 participants chosen by lot among all the registered ones.
