Ruzafa wins the Xterra Spain in Cieza

In the first inaugural edition of Xterra Spain, with Cieza as a privileged scenario, Rubén Ruzafa he was proclaimed winner with a time of 2: 00: 31, while in the female category Renata Bucher invested a time of 2: 52: 09.

Ruzafa did not come out well positioned on the stretch by swimming in the Quípar Reservoir, around the tenth place. "I knew it would be like that, but we should not lose the reference of Roger Serrano and Ben Allen, who were the first, in the subsequent mountain bike race, which is my best part." And so it was, because Ruzafa was able to close the gap with the aggressiveness that characterizes him as a former cyclist in that modality.

In the already serious references that are taken once the foot race is undertaken, the aforementioned Roger Serrano and the reigning Australian Xterra World Tour champion, Ben Allen join the British Asa Shaw, the former road cyclist, Héctor Guerra and the French Nicolás Lebrun, and, of course, Ruzafa.

But in this last segment, which all agreed to consider decisive and to qualify as very demanding both in the physical and in the technical plane, the podium was outlined. Allen had an invoice trying to follow Ruzafa, although he ended up very close, with 2: 39: 59. Lebrun, fifth, could not be with them (2: 33: 10) and Guerra -cuarto- (2: 32: 37) acquired a prominent position among the elite of Xterra Europe. Serrano, sixth, accused the race on foot from cross country.

"More than the technical hardness, I would point to the wind, which made cycling difficult," said the winner Ruzafa. For Allen, away from discontent by not occupying the highest podium drawer, he alluded to the excellence and quality of his rivals in a race "very hard, as well as beautiful".

However, Lebrun did have a bittersweet flavor. "You can not always be up, but it's been a race as demanding as the rivals." The women were very close.

The Switzerland Renata Bucher (2: 52: 09) dominated with some slackness regarding her most immediate pursuer, the Czech Helena Erbenova (2: 53: 48). The podium was completed by the German Kathrien Muller

The local Jesus Moreno was imposed in the reduced format of Xterra, with 1: 36: 37. Amaya Jimeno (2: 02: 10) did the same among the females. The local also Laura Morales (1: 02: 50) was proclaimed winner of the Xterra Trail, and José Esteban Martínez (46: 39) among the men.
