Triathlon Portocolom returns the 7 from April to Mallorca

Under the 55.5 and 111 formats, the Portocolom International Triathlon returns to his annual appointment after 16 uninterrupted years in one of the most beautiful places of the Balearic Islands and with 300 triathletes from all over Europe already enrolled in one of the first appointments of the old continent.

TriathlonPortocolom maintains its circuits, will have professionals of various nationalities and lowers their prices compared to last year for the next 7 in April.

Portocolom will once again host two medium-distance events on April 7 for the sixteenth consecutive year, following the internationalization of the event by TriStar. Now it is being organized again by the Club Triatló Portocolom and the Felanitx Town Hall.

TriathlonPortocolom assumes the previously registered 300 and lowers the prices to make it more popular at 60 € for the distance 55.5 (500 meters of swimming, 50 kilometers of cycling and 5 km of running on foot, which replaces the traditional Olympic), and 110 € for the fun 111 format, consisting of 1 km of swimming, 100 km of cycling and 10 km of running.

At the head of the test will follow the same local team that has been organizing this international event for over a decade, with the race director Jaume Vicens at the helm.

The tours, which have had an enormous acceptance in the national and international triathletic community, with the legendary and explosive climb to Sant Salvador, which has to be done twice in the 111, are also maintained. Similarly, parallel activities such as the TriKidsDuathlon for minors, which last year was the largest participation in the history of the Balearic Islands, as well as the Sports Fair and an attractive triathlete bag with details and closing party. In addition, it is also possible to complete the test by relay teams.

The Portocolom Triathlon Club, the Felanitx Town Hall and the local sports events company Kumulus have made a titanic effort to keep the event in the calendar and they offer a place free of charge to those who have already registered. “After two editions with the help of TriStar, we are going to continue with the TriathlonPortocolom, offering athletes an international triathlon in a very attractive and innovative format, and our goal is to continue making it grow in every way and pampering triathletes as we have always done,” says Jaume Vicens, who continues to lead the event. “We thank the Tristar Series for their great work in promoting Portocolom within the triathlon world, by being able to be integrated into a triathlon circuit with extraordinary organizational levels.

Due to the current situation in which it is TriStar, which is restructuring, the holding of the test was not possible under those circumstances. The effort of all the local institutions, suppliers, collaborators and volunteers that have made this dream possible so many years will remain intact so that all triathletes can come to Portocolom on April 7 to start their season ", concludes Vicens.

Triathlon Portocolom has become in two editions one of the favorite destinations of those who have tried the formato 111, both by the evaluations in the quality questionnaires and by the wide repercussion in their social networks. Its great success is undoubtedly due to its beautiful and demanding route with the double ascent to Sant Salvador, the beauty and tranquility of the coastal town of Portocolom in Felanitx, its privileged location in the international triathlon calendar (one of the first tests of the world) since the format 111 allows a fast recovery after the appointment.

Some professionals have already confirmed their presence at the 7 in April, such as the duathlete and Dutch triathlete MayKerstens, current bronze medal of the ITU Long Distance Duathlon World Championship, or the Hungarian ZsuzsannaHarsanyi, winner of the BalatonMan in 2012 or double winner of the Big Man from Prague

In category masculine, German Andreas Dreitz (4ºin the last edition) is one of the favorites to win the victory. The former professional cyclist Marcel Wüst It has also confirmed suppression in the starting line.

The route of the TriathlonPortocolom111 and 55.5 are the same, with the 111 participants making two laps of the 50 km cycling circuit and another two of the 5 km walking race by one of the participants in the 55.5.

Swimming will be in the harbor bay of Portocolom, to continue with a cycling tour that will take them to the spectacular climb to the mountain of Sant Salvador, known by thousands of triathletes and cyclists who visit Mallorca every year, with a height of 494 meters and an incredible panoramic view of the island and the southeast coast. The race on foot will pass through the old town of Portocolom, passing through some of its beaches before crossing the finish line.

The traditional port of Porto Colom It is located in the south of the east coast of the Mallorcan island, about 60 kilometers from Palma; It belongs to the municipality of Felanitx and is known to avoid mass tourism: for those looking for disproportionate water parks or karaoke bars in each corner should look for another destination. Portocolom has one of the largest natural harbors of the island, having Christopher Columbus, discoverer of the American continent, among its possible ancestors.
