Emilio Martín: "I come for all to Pontevedra"

Tomorrow starts the 2019 ITU Pontevedra Multisport World Championships with the Duathlon World Championship

Tomorrow starts the 2019 ITU Pontevedra Multisport World Championships with the Duathlon World with the participation of more than 1.200 athletes. The day opens with the Sprint Duathlon for Age Groups at the 8AM, continues at the 11h30 with the masculine start of the elite event and the 15h30 with the females, and finishes at the 16h with the long distance duathlon, "Duathlon Standard "

In the elite event, both in the men's and women's categories there will be a close fight fight between French, Spanish and Belgian triathletes, the three most competitive teams, although the competition is very open to a large number of duathletes. Even a large representation of Kenyans will try to fight for the positions above.

Emilio Martín, two-time duathlon world champion: "My goal is to repeat the 2014 podium here in Pontevedra, but I'm coming for everything, I'd like to fight for gold. The trainings say that I get to the appointment well. I am ambitious, then the race will put me in my place. Competing at home carries more pressure, but thanks for the public's encouragement

. It helps me, and it sure hurts the rivals. Here in Pontevedra and in all Galicia there is a huge love for this sport, the public turns and I'm sure that in the organizational will be great, since in almost no country in the world you get to the quality of everything that is done in Spain , we organize the best international competitions. The environment will be impressive ".

Irene Loizate, current champion of Spain duathlon and bronze European: "VI'll be in good shape, I'll try to do the best I can. I will try to fight for the podium, although I know it is difficult.

The six-lap bike circuit has some technical area, I think it benefits me a little, especially if there are no large groups. Illes and Levenez are the big favorites. In addition, the weather will improve, so with the dry asphalt we can surely run faster".
