Alejandro Valverde, commented in a video presented by the Movistar team that "VI am turning 41 and it is time to leave professional cycling and dedicate myself to something else within the team, but different"
Valverde will be the leader of the Movistar team in the United Arab Emirates Tour that will be played between February 21 and 27, test that opens the calendar of the World Tour 2021.
