The Burgos-BH cycling team signs Ander Okamika

The Basque rider will race the 2021 season on the road wearing the colors of Burgos-BH.

A bet that has its origin in the good performance demonstrated by Okamika in the Spanish Time Trial and Road Championship, or in events such as the Vuelta a Cantabria and the Vuelta a Alicante.

Ander Okamika (1993) joins Burgos-BH and it will contest the season with special attention to the events that best suit its characteristics.

That is, long, intense and sustained efforts that allow you to develop your strength on the bicycle. Okamika has achieved in 2020 to be the champion of Spain elite time trial y Spanish runner-up en route with the Netllar Telecom-ALÉ team, as well as the victory in one of the Vuelta a Alicante stages.

The cyclist values his incorporation to Burgos-BH: “Making the leap to professionalism is a dream come true, something I didn't expect. I think the pandemic has given me a chance, because I started racing on the road in July as there were no triathlons.

I was amazed at my performance and the results started to come in. I have to adapt from the triathlon and I think the most difficult thing is to go in a peloton and go out to the changes of rhythms, something that I am not used to.

I have shown that I can be competitive and I want to thank the Burgos-BH team for this commitment they have made for me.”

Technical director David Cantera commented on Okamika's signing during the signing of the contract at the Ciudad de Burgos Hotel:

Julio Andrés Izquierdo and Ander Okamika at the Ciudad de Burgos Hotel

"Following the work that is being done in the search for new talents, although in this case he is not so young, Ander comes from the triathlon where he is a national reference and this year he has focused 100% on the road.

The result has been outstanding and made us appreciate that he could be a professional cyclist. His physical condition is exceptional and we believe that he will adapt well and has enormous potential.".
