Barcelona hosts the Triathlon European Cup this weekend after the success of 2020

La Triathlon European Cup go back to the city of Barcelona after the success of the previous year's edition.

In females, the local Olympic triathlete, Anna Godoy, which was already the protagonist in 2020 in an exciting sprint for victory, is once again the captain of the women's team in Sunday's appointment, escorted by a good number of Spanish triathletes, adding up to 14 at the starting line.

Among them, will be the Spanish Champion in Olympic distance Xisca Tous, and her companions on the podium Marta Pintanel y Natalie Hidalgo, as well as the bronze medal in Olympic distance, Sara Guerrero, juniors Helena Moragas, Elsa Pena and María Casals (continental bronze in their category), locals Claudia Pérez Pay and Sofía Aguayo and Iratxe Arenal, Esther Gómez, Sonia Ruiz, Paula Sánchez and Pilar García, thus completing the #TriArmada female.

A demanding circuit and an international benchmark

The nerve center of the two competitions will be the city's waterfront, the Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella beach area and the municipal facilities of the Can Aranyó - Agapito Fernández Municipal Soccer Field and the CEM La Mar Bella.

The Sprint distance in which both events will be contested includes 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running.

In last year's edition, the victories went to the Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt, with a mark of 12:53:53, and the French Mathilde Gautier, with 1:00:43. The Spanish Javier Gómez Noya and Anna Godoy each achieved silver medals.
