Triathlon will be at the 2023 European Games again

The sports program of the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 continues to grow with the inclusion of triathlon.

Our sport vwill be part of the European Games in 2023 for the second time, after showing up at the first edition in Baku in 2015 .

"It's great for our sport and for our organization to be included in the European Games program again”, Commented the World Triathlon President and IOC member, Married Marisol. 

"Adding a third event like mixed relays to the world of competition shows that our sporting presence is growing, especially in Europe. 

Offering the best European athletes another important competition to participate in is always great news, and I am absolutely convinced that our community, fans and spectators will love it.”, Commented Casado in the official statement 

The championships will have 2 triathlon events

There will be two triathlon events one on Olympic distance and another mixed relay

For his part, the continental European president of World Triathlon Renato Bertrandi, commented:

"ItIt is a great pleasure to be able to confirm that triathlon will be part of the European Games to be held in Poland in 2023”Bertrandi said.

"Ithe triathlon was part of the first edition of the Games in 2015, where we successfully organized our race on the standard (Olympic) distance.

 In 2023 we will be in the European Games with two races: the individual based on the standard distance, 1500 Swim, 40km Cycle and 10k Run, and the Mixed Relay. 

This is an exciting, fast and furious new format that will bring a second medal chance to our triathlon discipline for the first time in Tokyo 2020.

“I am sure our top athletes will love being a part of the European Games in 2023 and I am sure it will be seen as a must see event every four years.".

European games are held every 4 years

The European Games are the continent's premier multi-sport event for elite athletes and are held every four years.

The 2023 Kraków-Małopolska European Games are scheduled to include approximately two dozen Olympic and non-Olympic sports.

More sports join the trialton

Sport climbing and triathlon join archery, badminton, beach handball, boxing, canoeing, karate, modern pentathlon, muaythai, shooting and taekwondo in the 2023 schedule, with more sports in the coming weeks.
