We interviewed Victor del Corral, "My goal is the Ironman World Championship in Kona"

Victor del Corral has shown during the 2013, that he is an all-terrain triathlete, winning from a Cross Triathlon, a medium distance to an Ironman.

His victories at 2013 stand out ironman 70.3 Lanzarote, ISOSTAR Extreme Man Narbonne, Xterra Switzerland, Florida Ironman y Arizona Ironman these last two with a difference of 15 days

For all this from Triathlon News we wanted to make an interview to tell us your plans for this 2014.

After a season finale full of successes, how do you face 2014?

I face the 2014 with joy for the results achieved in the last part of the year, but also with my feet on the ground. I know that we must continue working hard, that there is still much to improve. With the classification practically assured, and if everything goes well, this will be my first year in Kona. So with great enthusiasm and many encouragement and desire to continue on this path.

This 2014 do you have in mind to do a Cros triathlon?

I want to focus on long distance training, and the goal that is Ironman World Championship in Kona. In any case, I do not rule out the possibility of some XTERRA for pleasure at some point in the season that may fit in well by schedule and training.

After the injury, have you changed anything in your training?

No, after the forced rest and recovery after the rib fracture, I found myself training well and I did not have to modify anything. Although at the beginning I was incorporating the training progressively until the full recovery allowed me to return to normal.

You still live in Sand Beach, tell us why you chose Lanzarote for your training?

Because Lanzarote offers me perfect weather conditions to train, good temperature, little rain, sunny and pleasant days ... although sometimes you have to battle with the wind.

On the other hand, Lanzarote is relatively close to the peninsula, where family, friends and life live more comfortably.

You're targeting Kona, can you tell us something about your calendar? Will we see each other in Lanzarote?

I am still finishing to see what races I will do during this year 2014, yes I can announce that in April I will be in the Cannes International Triathlon (France) and in the Elche triathlon. And in June I will do the IM from Nice and maybe some more Half before getting to Nice.

In the second half of the year, I will also do some Half, surely the 70.3IM from Lanzarote, to prepare Kona, but I will not do any complete IM to arrive in the best possible conditions.

How do you support accounts for this season?

This season I continue with the support of many of my sponsors from previous seasons, such as Cannondale, reverse, Sands Beach, 100k Experience, Victory Endurance, DeportClínic, Compressport, and Indiba. And new sponsors and collaborators enter like Cat Systems, a company that distributes reconditioned computer equipment and components, Zoot with wetsuits and shoes, Rudy Project with helmets, DMT with cycling shoes, and 3T with wheels and handlebars.
