The IRONMAN Lanzarote “saved my life” (Valentín San Juan)

The Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, beyond the records and medals, is a test of resilience where triathletes demonstrate their great courage and ability to overcome.

From Triatlón Noticias we wanted to compile two of these stories of improvement that will not leave you indifferent.

VALENTÍ SAN JUAN “The IRONMAN that saved his life”

This past 2023, the renowned ultra-distance athlete, Valentin San Juan, After 10 years of his first experience, he repeated this test.

Days before the race he shared the emotional statements on his profile

“I think you haven't seen me cry in days. This Saturday will mark 10 years since my first IRONMAN Lanzarote.

The IRONMAN that I ran after I became bankrupt, my mother died, my girlfriend left me, I was kicked out of Catalonia Radio... When I got anxious at night I started running and that's why I wanted to do and I wanted to achieve that IRONMAN... ”

MÓNICA FALGUERAS “Barely being able to walk  6 weeks before the test, to get a slot for Kona”

A story that deserves to be told.

4 months before the test, Mónica suffered a pulmonary embolism that left her unable to walk. On the day of the event she achieved a second place in GGEE 40-44 with a direct pass to Kona "after leaving the hospital, every training session was a gift and she enjoyed it more than ever."
