Águilas hosts the best of the national triathlon

Throughout two intense days, Águilas will receive about 1000 triathletes, who will fill the streets of Murcia

 

 

The Murcia town of Águilas finalize the details to become headquarters of the Spanish Triathlon Championship the next 13 and 14 for September. An event that will bring together the best triathletes of the national panorama in elite categories, Sub23, Age Groups and paratriathlon.

 

Throughout two intense days, Águilas will receive about 1000 triathletes, who will fill the streets of Murcia. In elite and Sub23 categories the participants will do two laps of swimming (750 m each) with departure from the beach, to then do six laps of 7 km on the bike and finish with 10 km at the end of the race on foot.

 

In the women's competition, the presence of Miriam Casillas, who has excelled throughout this season getting among others, the Duathlon Spain Championship, sub-championship of the Sub23 World Duathlon in Pontevedra or the fourth classified in the European Championship of Sub23 Triathlon. Along with her, they will also enter into the dispute for the national scepter Paula García Godino (Spain Sprint 2014 Triathlon champion), Anna Godoy (bronze in Sub23 category in 2013), the ilicitana Tamara Gómez, Laura Gomez o Melina Alonso among others.

 

While in the men's competition the competition is also anticipated intense, with several contenders fighting for glory in Águilas. Among them, the current champion, Jesús Gomar arrives in the city of Murcia to defend its title. The triathlete of Gandía will have to face rivals of the caliber of Anton Ruanova (runner-up of the modality in the previous edition), David Castro, third classified in 2013 and World Champion of XXUMX Duathlon Sub23, Nan Oliveras (Sprint Triathlon Spanish champion). The Galician Uxio Abuín, Ricardo Hernández o Luis Miguel Sánchez Rosado  They also present their credentials to climb to the top of the podium in Murcia.

 

In addition, the Paratriathlon competitions will also take place on Saturday. In the different categories we can see in action the best Spanish athletes, after their successful participation in the past World Championships in Edmonton (Canada).

 

On the other hand, the Age Groups will make 1500 m of swimming, followed by a cyclist route formed by four laps of 10 km until reaching the regulatory 40 km of the sector and conclude with another four laps of 2,5 km of running in the immediate vicinity of the locality. While the paratriathletes will face a circuit consisting of 750 m swimming initials, 21 km cyclists and 5 km of running.

 

Located in the Alto Guadalentín region, Águilas has a long history in the organization of top-level sporting events, especially triathlon. A regular in the national calendar of the FETRI, the Murcian Triathlon Federation and the town of Águilas stand out for their excellent organization, management and dedication, as well as having support both at an institutional and citizen level.
