Almost 5.000 triathletes will participate this Sunday in the IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona 

This Sunday, October 1, Calella will become the epicenter of the European triathlon by hosting the Qatar Airways IRONMAN Barcelona and IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona.  

With almost 5.000 participants, this event is positioned as the second largest triathlon festival in Europe. 

Figures that speak for themselves 

At the Qatar Airways IRONMAN® Barcelona, ​​a total of 2.800 triathletes will compete, 91% of whom are foreigners of up to 85 different nationalities.  

At IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona, ​​the figure stands at almost 2.000 triathletes with 83% foreign participation. The United Kingdom leads the registrations, followed closely by France, Germany and Italy. 

Courses

The circuits of both tests offer a unique experience. From the start on Calella beach to the bicycle segment on the N-II highway, triathletes will enjoy fast and scenic routes that will culminate in one of the best finish lines in Europe.

Stories that inspire 

Ramon Arroyo, a Basque athlete diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, returns to compete in Calella ten years later.  

Additionally, the event will feature the presence of sailors from the Copa América and club 10IronWomen, a collective that seeks to inspire women in the world of triathlon.

The north coast of Barcelona will be filled with enthusiasm and passion, with fans cheering on the triathletes throughout the course.

Schedule

This Sunday, October 1, the emotions will start early. While the IRONMAN 70.3 will start at 07:55, the Qatar Airways participants IRONMAN Barcelona will start at 08:25 in the morning from Calella beach.

As the day progresses, triathletes will take on the challenges of swimming, cycling and running, with the finish expected to be as exciting as ever, likely extending into the late afternoon.
