Havana hosts the Ibero-American Triathlon Championships

Everything is ready for the celebration next weekend of the Ibero-American Triathlon Championships that will be held in sprint, medium and long distance in Havana (Cuba).

 

 

An event in which the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI), together with the International Triathlon Union (ITU), have been actively involved in sports development, within the framework of cooperation and development programs carried out by both institutions.

Competitions that will bring together triathletes from 25 countries and in which, in a historical setting, the presence of the United States delegation stands out. The Caribbean island will receive for the first time an appointment that will start on Saturday 24 in January with the Ibero-American Sprint Triathlon Championship. 

Spain will have four representatives in the elite competition, with Miriam Casillas y Tamara Gómez in the female category and David Castro y Ricardo Hernández in the male test. In addition, all of them arrive in search of important ITU points. On the other hand, Javier Delgado Bermejo will take the start in the Age Groups competition. All of them will face a first stretch of 750 m swimming, followed by 20 km cyclists, to conclude with 5 km of race bordering the emblematic scenarios of the Cuban capital.

During the day of Sunday, January 25, the competitions will take place in medium distance (1,9 km of swimming, 90 km cycling and 21 km of running on foot) and long distance on a circuit of 3,8 km of swimming , 180 km cyclists and 42 km of running.

In the medium distance test we will be represented in the age group categories by Aitor Torres (GG.EE. 25-29 M), José Yustas and Francisco Javier Torres Núñez (GG.EE. 30-34 M), and Manuel Narváez (GG.EE. 45-49 M). While in long distance we will have Txomin Bustindui (GG.EE. 30-34 M), Jon Karro García (GG.EE. 35-39 M), Javier García Pérez, Santiago Gil Casadevall and Enrique Ballester Tovar (GG.EE. 40-44 M), Alicia García Pérez (GG.EE. 45-49 F) and Carlos Andrés Ramírez Duarte (GG.EE. 45-49 M).
