Japanese triathlete Tsudoi Miyazaki dies after being run over

Word Triathlon has published the sad news of the death of the young Japanese triathlete Tsudoi Miyazaki.

With only 25 years passed away on July 27 in France when she was hit by a vehicle during a bicycle training session near Orleans.

Miyazaki was at a Training Camp in France after competing in the Pontevedra World Cup last weekend.

She started triathlon in college, winning the Japan U-23 Triathlon Championships in 2019 and was expected to become a high-performance triathlete in the future, aiming to win medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Regarding the circumstances of the accident, the local authorities are investigating together with World Triathlon and the Japanese Federation.
