Multisport World Cup in Ibiza: Spain achieves second place in the medal table

El World Multisport de Ibiza 2023 has come to an end with a record of international registrations of 62 different nationalities representing the five continents.

Spain has closed the competition in the second place in the medal table second only to France.

A sustainable and zero waste triathlon event

Ibiza 2023 has been the first triathlon event to implement the circular economy and zero waste, achieving the World Triathlon sustainability gold certificate. Thanks to these actions, more than 30.000 plastic bottles have been avoided.

Spain stands out in the competitions

The Spanish team has obtained excellent results, with gold medals in Mario Mola in Duathlon, Christian Fernandez in Aquatlón, the silver of Antonio Benito and the bronze of Gurutze Frades in Long Distance, and the bronze of Eva García in Duathlon Cross.

A festival of competitions

The island of Ibiza enjoyed a true triathlon party in which six world championships were held in 10 days.

The town of Santa Eularia de Riu hosted the Duathlon and Aquathlon World Championships, Sant Antoni de Portmany hosted the two Cross Country events, the Cross Country Duathlon World Championship and the Cross Country Triathlon World Championship, and Ibiza was home to the Long Distance World Championships and Aquabike in addition to the PTO European open, proves that for the first time it was making the leap to Europe, Ibiza being the venue chosen for the premiere.

Commitment to Sustainability

The Ibiza 2023 Multisport World Cup has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through the Good Loop movement, in which all the agents of the championship participated in actions with a positive impact.

Upcoming triathlon events in Spain

This event is only the first of the three major international events that Spain will host in 2023.

El European Championship will take place in Madrid from June 2 to 4, and the Grand Final of the World Series will be held in Pontevedra from September 20 to 24.
