The Portocolom Triathlon returns this Sunday with maximum expectation

This coming Sunday, April 14, the 26th edition of the Triathlon of Portocolom, one of the most important sporting events in the Balearic Islands.

The test, which sold out its numbers more than a month ago, will bring together many international triathletes in one of the earliest tests on the calendar.

A unique and demanding route

The Portocolom Triathlon is held under two distances: 111 kilometers (1 km of swimming, 100 km of cycling and 10 km of running) and 55.5 kilometers (500 meters of swimming, 50 km of cycling and 5 km of running).

The swimming course takes place in the crystal-clear waters of Portocolom Bay, while the cycling segment takes place on an undulating 50 km circuit that climbs the demanding Puig de Sant Salvador.

The foot race takes place through the streets of the center of this beautiful coastal town, on a route that takes the triathletes from the heart of the Club Náutic (where the finish line is located) to the famous lighthouse of the town, which, as is tradition, only It opens on the day of the event for the enjoyment of athletes.

The official presentation of the Portocolom 2024 Triathlon took place in the Sa Sínia-Francisca Caldentey Roig building.

Institutional representatives attended the event, such as Joan Toni Ramonell, general director of Esports of the Government of the Balearic Islands; Catalina Soler, Felanitx batlesa; Melanie Mesquida, Batlesa district of Portocolom; Toni Pena, councilor of Tourism; Jaume Monserrat, first lieutenant of Batlesa; Climent Garau, president of the Portocolom Nautical Club; Xisca Tous, vice president of FETRIB; and Jaume Vicens, race director.

With the numbers sold out for more than a month, the Portocolom Triathlon promises to be one of the most competitive editions in its history.

A large international presence

The Portocolom Triathlon will have a great international presence this year, with athletes from more than 20 different countries.

Among the favorites in the men's category of the 111 kilometer distance, the German stands out Lukas Schnodewindthe Belgian vincent van dewalle, the Swiss Lawrence Delco, Belgian Timothy Van Houtem y Jelle Vlietinckthe finnish Jarmo Rissanen, Swedish Dennis Ljung and Spanish Miguel Fernandez Miniño, Alberto Parrilla, Daniel Esbri y Pere Lladó.

In the women's category, the main contenders for victory are the Belgian Alexandra Tondeur, the Swiss Petra Eggenschwiler y Maja Indermuehle, the German Anja Fachbach and the Dutch Claudia Striekwold.

An event for the whole family

In addition to the main event, the Portocolom Triathlon also offers a series of activities for the whole family, such as TriKids, a duathlon for minors that takes place on Saturday, April 13.

There will also be an exhibition area with products from the leading brands in the sector and a restaurant area where participants and their families can enjoy local cuisine.
