First steps for the Multilicencia? by Felipe Gutiérrez

Felipe Gutiérrez has carried out a survey among the presidents of several Federations to know their opinion about it.

A few days ago you can read a story in the press where they talked about the licenses of certain sports were worth for other modalities. Sometimes people who want to do triathlon ask you if their license of this or that sport is worth it and they do not have to "take out" another one. In Murcia seems to start an agreement that could be interesting. This is the news:

"Athletics, Cycling and Triathlon join forces for the benefit of their federated

The Federations of Athletics, Cycling and Triathlon of the Region of Murcia signed on Monday 2 March an agreement by which their federated athletes may participate in tests organized by each of the signing federations, while they may benefit in the same conditions of the training courses developed in each of them.
Thus, each of the federations has selected the tests in which the federated of the other entities that have signed the agreement may participate. All those athletes who want to participate in the events organized by the federation to which they are not affiliated, must formalize their registration in the following way:

1. Federation athletes in cycling or triathlon, to participate in events organized by the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, must send an email to [email protected]

2. The federated in triathlon and athletics, to participate in the tests determined by the Cycling Federation, must send an email to secretary @ murciaciclismo.

3 And to participate in the events organized by the Triathlon Federation, athletes with a license in athletics or cycling will have to process their registration through the federation website (www.trimurcia.org).

In this way, the fact of being in possession of federative license issued by each of the federations will allow the athlete to participate in any of the tests offered by the federations to which it is not adhered.

The agreement represents an economic benefit for the federated members of each of the three federations and an important advance in terms of collaboration between sports entities, while also extending the promotion of athletics, cycling and triathlon, promoting the federated sports practice "

It could be interesting but I'm not sure about it and it occurred to me to send an e-mail to ALL the regional Federations and mainly to Murcia which is one of those who have signed this agreement.

Your president Diego Calvo, President of the Murcian Federation I answered "About the news you tell me, it is indeed the beginning of an agreement between three Murcian Federations by which any athlete with a license in one of these federations can compete in the other two without having to pay the license one day , which is assumed by the receiving federation, however, they will not be eligible for titles of which they do not have a license. As I say, it is a beginning that we want to extend in the future. If you need any other information do not hesitate to ask me for it "

At the moment it seems that it sounds good and I was waiting for some news from the 16 remaining autonomies and the two autonomous cities but only two answered me and these are their answers:

Jorge Ruiz, President of the Federation of Ceuta "I have not read the agreement in full (why I do not even know if it is published somewhere), but for what you comment, the tests in which other federations can participate, are a few.

There those who have to be in agreement are the insurers of the federations, if the policies specify that the "sports practice" when referring to an accident, is the sport for which it is federated. I suppose that these federations will have it clear when signing the agreement.

And also, seeing that there are only a few competitions, or a few, I suppose that they will not have included regional championships between the "interchangeable" or "inviting" events, it would be curious if an athlete were an autonomous champion of cycling or triathlon or vice versa.

What can benefit is that there are more participants in the competitions, although I do not know how much there can be between what a federated and a non-federated pay in a local competition.

I suppose they have sought to benefit the athlete from other modalities that are already participating in tests of other sports than those with a license and to increase participation in certain tests a little more "

Amancio del Castillo, President of the Federation of Castilla y León, tells us: “I don't have much opinion about the news that appeared in the press. Moreover, I did not give importance because it is not the first agreement of this type that is made. It seems good to me for sport and very difficult to move forward, both in negotiations with other sports, and in the way of applying it, so it seems to me a great success if it has been achieved. I give my congratulations to Diego ”.

Teresa Gomez Hervas, President of the Federation of Castilla La Mancha, says: "Since our federation two years ago already tried, I discussed with Jose Hidalgo what he had in mind and initially had no problems.

My insurance company gave the go-ahead and no problems. But when we arrived at the Cycling Federation (with athletics we did not see it), we ran into it there.

At first they treated me, but then, they stopped answering the emails and did not return the calls. They did not want to unite federations, so I had to quit because I think this has to be reciprocal between the federations involved.

This will be the future, although it creates the dilemma of which federation would process the licenses, since people would go to the cheapest one, to the detriment of the others. I imagine that it would be necessary to unify license prices, and create several specific points in relation to it (example: the amount of the license will go in proportion to the tests in which federated compete, or who would pay the license insurance fee; etc) ".

Juan Carlos Serrano, President of the Canarian Federation He tells us: “The truth is that I do not have a very formed opinion about it, I here at one point had an offer from the Canarian Cycling Federation to carry out a joint license. But honestly I was not very attracted to the offer since we neither shared insurance nor did we have the same subsidies from the Government of the Canary Islands when theirs were double with the same number of licenses and a quarter number of tests with respect to our calendar . That is why I tell you that there would be a lot to talk and debate, and to know the particularities of each community as well as the advantages that I do not think are many when it comes to being able to make a joint license for people who may not even know how to swim. But anyway, I don't know if this will be related to the reduction in the price of insurance or not, but it is something disconcerting. In my opinion it may be a bit to mix "churras with merino" but I already told you that it would be necessary to see what the reasoning is to get to this ”.

Sharon Calderón, President of the Asturian Federation: "About what you tell me, and it's not because I want to" get out on a tangent "(it's professional deformation ... because of having studied philosophy), since I'm president and attend meetings of Autonomous Federations in FETRI, I have Clear that each Federation, said in Roman paladino, "is of his mother and his father." Little or nothing have to do with the needs or goals that we have set in Asturias with those that may have, for example, in this case, Murcia. So the measure you tell me does not seem right or wrong, although it is something that, a priori, we would not do here, not because we believe it is not adequate, but because we understand that it would not respond to the goals that we have set.

I would like to insist on the fact that although all the Federations are "associated" with the Spanish Federation, this does not mean that we should always go hand in hand, adopting the same measures throughout the country, since, as I said before , little or nothing we have to see in terms of objectives, and what counts for an autonomous Federation, is not valid for another. What is the use of a national Federation? Well, to put a simile that we all understand, should be, at the level of autonomous federations, a kind of Congress of Deputies, the place where all federations can expose our ideas, and agree on the most beneficial for all. Although, as you well know, that is, very many times, very complicated "

Virginia Sanz, President of the Madrilenian Federation: "The truth is that with the development that the triathlon is having, facing the Territorial Federations at an absolute level, veterans would not see it as appropriate, since the tests have enough solvency to be able to develop their own sport, without needing that sportsmen of other sports can mix.

On the other hand, for minors in the learning process, competition in these sports would be positive, since the skills of each competition could enrich these minors for their sports development by being able to acquire those skills that can be acquired more easily in more competitions. specific to swimming, cycling or athletics "

Abilio Garcia, President of the Balearic Triathlon Federation: "In principle it seems to me a very good proposal, since it is a historical proposal that the triathletes have been proposing, that at the end of the day, they are the ones affected by sharing several sports disciplines ... which in other sports, they focus on just one.

More than being able to participate in tests of other federations ... I would say it more as "sharing insurance coverage between sports" which is the main problem ... since for example in local triathlon it is open to non-federated athletes in triathlon ... and with this system, what is sought is that they can "save" the 1-day insurance ... which in most cases, and I say this because from the Balearic Islands we have tried ... cycling coverage does not cover running and vice versa ... and none of the two it covers swimming ... but you can get a more affordable price with partial coverage with a good agreement between federations.

Obviously these "1 day triathletes" could not score for a ranking, or in the classification of clubs ... much less in our case the title of Champion of the Balearic Islands ... and what is more controversial, participate in this test and can distort ... imagine a PRO cyclist giving relief in the head without being federated ... in short.

Communicate that in the Balearic Islands we will soon have an agreement with the Athletics Federation so that these athletes can participate in Fetrib events ... with a lower price on the 1 day license (only the extension of cycling coverage and / or swimming) "

Jose Mª Merchán, President of the Andalusian Federation "We do not find it interesting because of the large number of triathletes and tests we have. We do not have a large grant and we have to self-finance. If maybe it would be good in minors, there you could study "

Jesus Andreu, President of the Catalan Federation he tells us: "In Catalonia we did it at the time with mountaineering since they made mountain duathlons and high mountains.

The problem when this type of agreement is made is in the insurance and we had the same although the coverage of them was superior to ours.

The law of sport says that each federation must regulate its sport. Could an agreement be interesting? I think it's more of a practical issue.

What is clear is that the multilicencia will never exist, although there are specific agreements "

I like the conclusions of the Madrilenian and Andalusian Federation with the minors, what is clear is that some Federations have given their point of view, the other Federations (I'm happy 10 has answered me) or do not know or do not answer or do not care or do not want to answer me or do not want to get wet, or maybe not even let them answer ..., they have not received the mail, which is clear that once again some go to the "slipstream" of what is coming out.

Do not send me your opinion, do not think they hurt me, Maybe your federated? ... Today I have slept perfectly nap and I have not stopped to think that something should change, if nobody wants to change it ... as Julio would say Churches ... "everything is the same" ... this weekend will surely be fixed in the Assembly of the FETRI, since it is time for the annual meetings ...
