1.200 enrolled in the XVIII IES Yaiza Triathlon

It's time for the most important student sports event in Lanzarote. The organization of the XVIII IES Yaiza Triathlon registers 1.200 registered athletes from different educational centers of the Island, who will compete, under the slogan 'It arrives far', to reach the victory next Friday 23 of November.

The record of participation presages a great competitive party. The student concentration will begin at eight thirty in the morning with the arrival of the invited athletes to the IES Yaiza facilities. Once received and after the pertinent formalities, the participants will be transferred to the bay of Puerto Calero for the 500 meters of the swim test, which will start the 10: 00 hours.

After this first challenge, the triathletes will face a race of 385 meters to reach the bicycle park, located in the parking lot of the Hesperia Hotel. From there the cycling test will begin, which will take them to the educational center, after facing a circuit of 7,5 kilometers of continuous orographic difficulties. The organization foresees that it is the hardest and most complicated part of the triathlon.

To conclude, the participants will have to pass the athletics test designed on a mixed circuit of 2,5 kilometers with some ramps in the surroundings of the Institute, which will force the triathletes to make a last effort that will lead them to the sentencing line. It is estimated that the test has an hour and a half in duration, so that the 12: 30 hours would begin the ceremony of awarding trophies and awards to the winners, including the affectionate Turtle Trophy, an award that rewards the effort to conclude the test of the last classified. 400 volunteers, between students and teachers, will work to ensure the best conditions for athletes.

It is worth mentioning that the IES Yaiza Triathlon is possible thanks to the support of the Lanzarote Council, the Yaiza City Council and the Local Police, Civil Guard and Civil Protection. Likewise, the organizing committee values ​​the support of the Senate of the IES Yaiza and the collaboration of companies such as Coca Cola, Hotel Princesa Yaiza, Hotel Hesperia of Puerto Calero, Kalise, Cabrera Medina, Mass Deporte, Lude, Casa Pedro Restaurant in Playa Blanca, Restaurant Brisa Marina of Playa Blanca, La Taberna de Nino of Puerto del Carmen, The Cafeteria of IES Yaiza and Puerto Calero.

On this occasion, the triathletes have been framed in 273 teams, consisting of a maximum of 4 components each, in its three modes: male, female and mixed. In addition, almost a hundred athletes have ventured to perform this test individually in a solitary fight against the clock and the forces themselves.
