Emilio Martín and Inma Pereiro leave as favorites in the Gernika International Duathlon

The champion of the world Emilio Martín e Inma Pereiro, are candidates to win the XVIII International Duchy of Gernika, which will be played on Saturday three weeks of the national championship scheduled in Pontevedra.

The Gernika, traditionally test capital in the national calendar, this year will have less foreign participation and a very important budget cut. As in previous editions, you will have a 'menu' of 5.000 and 2.500 meters of running on foot through an urban scenario - the first and third segments - and between them a compulsory filming of 24 kilometers in parallel to the reserve of the biofera of Urdaibai, one of the most splendid and beautiful routes of the European duathlon circuit.

Emilio Martín -will be seen with French Jeremy Pierrat- is the current world duathlon champion, title won in Nancy last September, when he beat by 3 seconds the Belgian Antoine Duvivier. This year Huelva was second in the Grand Prix of Avignon and winner in Punta Umbria and Sevilla.

The vizcaína and resident in Cantabria Inma Pereiro, already winner last year happening in the honors to the former world triathlon champion Virginia Berasategi, currently trying to get out of an injury and therefore low in Gernika, is a candidate to beat this Saturday, except surprise on the part of Gurutze Frades. Pereiro, two-time champion duathlon Spain and with eight other titles between mountain duathlon and winter triathlon, has added two victories this season, those obtained in Sopelana and Torrelavega.

They will take part in the round of 300 duathletes and there will be several thousands of spectators who will follow the test that, in other years, counted in their registration lists with several world and European medalists and some of the best participants in the Olympic Games in triathlon.
