Six Spaniards go to Weert in search of qualification for the Nangjing Youth Olympic Games

Next weekend, Weert (Holland) will host the European triathlon qualifier that will award places for the next Nangjing Youth Olympic Games, whose triathlon competitions will take place between August 17 and 21 in the vicinity of the Xuanwu Lake in the southeast Chinese city.

 

 

Spain attends the event with six triathletes, Cecilia SantamaríaCarmen Gómez e Inés Santiago in the female category. While in the men's competition they will participate Alberto González, Andrés Cendán y Jesús Del Val. Of the six Spanish triathletes, only one triathlete can be classified by category; since Europe has only eleven places for the appointment of Nanjing.

 

The competition will take place over sprint distance, with a first segment of 750 m of swimming, followed by three laps (17,7 km in total) cyclists that will include a small hill. Finally, they will run a 5 km race on foot through a circuit that will cross the center of the city.

 

The start of the women's competition is scheduled for 13: 00 hours next Saturday 17 May. While the male category will start from the 14: 30 h. To complete the weekend, during the following day a Mixed Relay competition will be held, starting at 13: 45 h.
