Camila Alonso retires from the European junior triathlon for a fall in cycling

The Ferrolan triathlete ran in the pursuit platoon at just 30 seconds of the head of the race.

The triathlete Camila Alonso has been forced to abandon in the Junior European Championship held this Friday in Israel because of a fall in the last lap of the cycling segment.

The athlete of the Ferrol Triathlon was in the pursuer group, about half a minute from the race leader, when she fell when skirting a roundabout. Although it suffered only minor scratches, Ferrolane could not finish the test.

According to her later impressions, Camila Alonso assures that she could have improved the running times of the group of triathletes that reached the second transition in the lead, which would give her chances to sneak into the first 12 and thus achieve a direct place in the World Cup. With regard to the discomfort suffered from last season in the soleus of both legs, the Ferrolana triathlete trained in Israel without problems thanks to recommendations from the Sports Technification Center of Pontevedra, Omar González.

The junior competition of Eilat was held in sprint distance, that is, 750 m of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running.
