Speed ​​skating enters the world of triathlon thanks to Tri Challenge

Historic morning that the Madrid town of Boadilla del Monte has experienced this Sunday 27 of May, with the premiere of Tri Challenge skate-bike-run: a novel and original triathlon format in which the first swimming segment is replaced by the race on roller skates. In this way, Tri Challenge has already become an active part of the tri-sport world.

In an ideal location for this type of test, with a clean and safe avenue for skating and a beautiful and varied route for the mtb and the race on foot, the 9 start in the morning was given to this 1th edition of Tri Challenge Boadilla del Monte. 100 were the athletes who inaugurated this unprecedented event, which is now part of the triathlon offering, for the moment in the Community of Madrid. To emphasize the feminine participation, that with approximately 25% of the total, supposes an enormous success in this sense.

As soon as the starting gun was fired, the skaters quickly took the lead, marking a vertigo rhythm that exceeded 50 km / h in some section of the route. Meanwhile, the duathletes and triathletes, as well as all the less skilful with the skates, had a more sustained and controlled rhythm waiting to come back in the other segments. After concluding the 6,5 km of race on skates, the participants entered the transition zone to get rid of the skates and take their bicycles all terrain. Ahead, 15 km of route very varied and enjoyable in mtb that was causing several changes in the classification. And finally 4 km of race on foot in which we could enjoy spectacular comebacks.

The first to cross the finish line and, therefore, to go down in history as the winner of the 1º Tri Challenge Boadilla del Monte, was Miguel Ángel Garnacho. After him, in second position, Julio Meneses, and third Daniel Ríos. Other "illustrious" who took the first places were Alberto Díaz, Yeray Toquero and Jaime Menéndez de Luarca, among others.

For its part, the champion of the female category, with an equally historic triumph, was Ana Jördens. After her, completing the other two places on the podium, Elena González and Maribel Fuentes.

In parallel, the relay category was also disputed, with teams of three members in which each of them carried out a segment. The winners in men's relay were Ángel Damián González, Ignacio Carrascosa and Samuel Martínez, while in women Ana Ramiro, Tata Ramiro and Cristina Amador.

The winners received their trophies from the hand of Adolfo Arias, councilor for sports of Boadilla del Monte, who were also given a GOW pack valued at €169 (to the two absolute winners, male and female). Adolfo Arias wanted to highlight the originality of this test, committing himself, from the city council, to try to ensure that it continues in the coming years.

All participants highlighted above all the attractiveness of this new triathlon format, enjoying to the maximum three disciplines that have been shown to be perfectly compatible and can be combined in a single test: Tri Challenge.

Tri Challenge had the great organization of Ducross and with the sponsorship and collaboration of Zeebra, Gow, Nutrixxion, Madridpatina, El patín de Oro, Sportraining and Boadilla del Monte City Council.

The provisioning was in charge of Nutrixxion, by means of energy gels and isotonic drink to all the participants. Also, to highlight the collaboration of the members of the association Madridpatina, which served as technical support to the laggards in the skating sector.

The next Tri Challenge event will be the next 23 in June in Alcobendas. Registrations are now open at www.ducrosseries.es
