The second edition of the Ecotrimad triathlon will be held next 12 in May

The Community of Madrid, through the Director General of Sports, Carlota Castrejana, presented this Friday a new major sporting event sponsored by the regional government, which is going to dispute the next 12 of May in the privileged enclave of Buitrago de Lozoya and the Riosequillo reservoir, the regional government said in a statement.
This is the second edition of the triathlon called Ecotrimad, which will be a scoring test for the national ranking, and qualifying for the Spanish Triathlon Championship of medium and long distance.
The test, said Castrejana, complies with all the approaches that the Community defends such as encouraging all social groups to practice sports, promoting natural spaces as ideal places to play sports, care for the environment and promote the development of tourism sustainable sports
“Ecotrimad encompasses all of this,” said Castrejana, who explained that the test consists of a medium-distance triathlon - 1,9 kilometers of swimming, 75 in bike and 21 running races - and around 1.000 athletes will participate - the registration number has not been increased in order to maintain its environmental sustainability.
Thanks to the "Zero Carbon" commitment, the level of CO2 will be calculated and the necessary money will be allocated to counteract it. In addition, 1% of the total budget of the test will be allocated to the Canal de Isabel II for maintenance work on the Riosequillo reservoir, where the test will be held next Saturday, the 12th.
The director explained that in this year's test there is another great novelty. And it is the participation, through an agreement with the Diabetes Foundation and the Novo Nordisk company, dedicated to research on hormonal disorders, of a team made up of athletes with diabetes, health personnel, and people linked to this disease, with the aim of to make society aware that "with diabetes you can also play sports".
