Great Spanish performance in the Duathlon World Championship

Laura Gomez y Genis Grau have reaped a great performance in the Junior Duathlon European Championship, obtaining both bronze medals in their respective categories. The appointment was held this Sunday in Horst aan de Maas (Holland) in sprint distance.

 

In the female category the triumph has been for the Slovak, Ivana Kuriackova; followed in second position by the British Georgina Schwiening. As long as Laura Gómez, completed the podium in third place. From the beginning, the test was developed with a strong rhythm, with Kuriackova, the Italian Angelica Olmo and the British Schwiening and Kate Curran commanding the race.

 

A formidable Gomez managed to catch up with the leading quartet in the cycling segment, keeping pace until the Slovakian escaped in the men's a, in a category, maintaining the advantage during the running leg until crossing the last lap of the sector. The Slovakian woman would retain the advantage during the running leg, until she crossed the finish line in first position.

 

For its part, in the men's category, the local triathlete Jorik Van Egdom he comfortably led the win with an advantage of 40 seconds. Behind, Genis Grau starred in an exciting contest for second place. At the end, and after a disputed final sprint, the British Liam Lloyd hung the silver; with a splendid Grau signing the bronze medal. While Aleix Domènech achieved an outstanding 11th place.

 

In addition, Anna Noguera I got the silver medal in the sub23 category. On the other hand, Octavio Pérez reached the silver medal in category 35-40, Jordi Moreno the bronze in category 50-55, Consuelo Mas entered fourth in category 50-55 and David Sánchez 8th in 40-45, in the long distance event.
