La Santa organizes the international duathlon of Lanzarote

The Club La Santa de Tinajo will organize this Saturday from the 10.00 the seventeenth edition of the International Duathlon of Lanzarote whose departure will take place in the stadium of this sports complex. The organization expects the participation of close to 200 athletes.

The start will be at 10 a.m. for men, at the Club La Santa stadium, and five minutes later, it will be the turn of the women's category. This duathlon consists of five kilometers of running, 20 kilometers of bike (round trip from La Santa to Famara) to finish with another 2,5 kilometre race lap on the athletics track at the La Santa stadium.

In the last edition there were several triathletes of the international elite being the victory for the Frenchman Fred Belaubre, with a time of 00: 57: 04.

This year's event will be dominated by women. The 2012 winner, German Jenny Schulz, has confirmed her participation to defend her title. Also expected to be the participation of several internationally renowned long-distance triathletes, such as Eimear Mullan (6th in the Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote 2012 and winner of the Ironman UK) Heleen Bij de Vaate, a Dutch Ironman elite and the Canarian Patricia Díaz. In the handcycle category, two-time Paralympian Rafa Botello will be present.
