Official presentation of ISOSTAR EXTREME MAN GETXO 2013

Around half a thousand people will meet in the second edition of the Triathlon ISOSTAR Extreme Man 113 Getxo-Basque Country to be held in Getxo the next 7 in July.

The mayor stressed that this event "It is an important sports bet of Getxo, from the economic point of view, since there are many people who are going to come as they did last year, who are going to revert to spending and consumption in the municipality. And it is a test, in addition, that undoubtedly results in the external projection of our municipality since international figures will participate ".

It is the second of the four tests that make up the Extreme Man circuit and will probably be one of the most anticipated events of the year at the state level in this sport, thanks to the participation of some of the great stars of this discipline. Athletes of the stature of Virginia Berasategi, Marcel Zamora, Gurutze Frades, Raúl Amatriain, Albert Moreno or Mikel Elguezabal, who have already confirmed their attendance. But in addition to presenting a spectacular elite poster, it will feature the participation of hundreds of popular triathletes. More than 400 athletes have already registered for the Extreme Man. The show is therefore assured. Also noteworthy is the presence of two great Spanish athletes such as Martin Fiz and Joseba Beloki, who will compete in the team category.

News in the circuit

This year there will be news in the field of organization and in terms of the circuit. It will change the goal zone and location of the boxes. Everything is moved to the section that goes from the entrance roundabout of the Puerto Deportivo to the Tamarises (instead of the Arriluze straight), since in the opinion of the organizers with this change, people will see better the transitions between the tests, the changes, the use of the boxes and the arrival (a stand will be installed under Punta Begoña).

The competition will begin at 8:00 am on the beach of Ereaga and will have a distance of 113 kilometers - a figure that corresponds to the sum of the distances of the three specialties-, distributed as follows: 1,9 km. of swimming (in the beach of Ereaga), 90 km. by bicycle (1 lap, instead of the two last year, to a circuit that will also cross towns such as Leioa, Erandio, Berango, Sopelana, Urduliz, Plentzia, Mungia and Laukiz) and 21 km. of running, with 2 laps, instead of the 3 in 2012, on a 7 km circuit that will run between the Old Port and the Bizkaia Bridge through the seafront. The race will end around 16:00 p.m. with the arrival of the last participants.
