More than 2.000 athletes star in the most solidary edition of the Triatló de La Vila

more than 2.000 athletes participated in the third round of the ŠKODA Triathlon Series

This Sunday, July 13, Barcelona hosted the third round of the ŠKODA Triathlon Series circuit which, this 2014, will travel through a total of 11 cities until next October 4. With the Port Olímpic of Barcelona as the luxury setting for the eleventh La Vila Triatló, the event has brought together more than 2.000 athletes willing to enjoy a morning of multi-sport.

Triumph of Albert Parreño and Anna Flaquer

From the 8 of the morning, the Moll de Mestral has been invaded by a multitude of athletes who have starred in the sprint triathlon and the aquatlon "Mulla't per l'esclerosi múltiple".

A very fast swimming and a cyclist circuit closed to traffic and completely flat, have determined a brilliant outcome of the race in the race on foot, where the favorites have been delivered to the maximum in search of victory. Finally, Albert Parreño was the winner, stopping the clock in a time of 52 minutes 49 seconds. Behind, Guillem Rojas has been second (53: 25) and Ramón Ejeda third (53: 56).

In the women's category, Anna Flaquer has been awarded the win in a time of 1: 00: 31. The triathlete was accompanied on the podium by Judot Rovira (1: 03: 06) and Aurore Swidurski (01: 03: 17).

In the aquatlon, the winners were for Antonio Roldán (28: 25) and Teresa Fullana (34: 48).

The most supportive triathlon

This 2014 season, the Skoda Triathlon Series has made a commitment to Special Olympics in its work for sport for all. Beyond the communication campaign and the support in spreading the message of this international movement, the organization of the circuit has chosen the Triatló de La Vila to deliver a donation of 25.000 € to Special Olympics.

The amount, equivalent to the game destined to the finisher gift that was given to the triathlete last season, will be destined, entirely to the promotion of the sport and the integration of the people with intellectual disability, fundamental axes of the work of Special Olympics.

This event has been accompanied by the participation of six relay teams of athletes with intellectual disabilities, who have shared the race with popular athletes and prestigious journalists.

The arrival of these athletes to the finish line has been supported by the presence of the NBA player, Ricky Rubio. The base of Masnou, which finally has not been able to participate by medical prescription, has not wanted to miss the appointment to defend, once again, sport for all. "It's something very beautiful that makes us more human, because I think that sport can integrate many people. In addition, they give us an example, since sometimes, wrongly, we treat them differently and, in reality, they are athletes like any other. The important thing is to participate and for me it is a pride that everyone has finished the test. "

Next stop: Andorra

After the competition in Barcelona, the Skoda Triathlon Series is already traveling to Andorra, where the next 27 in July will be a new edition of a triathlon that promises to be a unique experience.
