Zoot will be present in Hawaii

The expected Hawaii Ironman is about to come. The best long-distance triathletes are just days away from measuring their skills in the geography of Kailua-Kona in the 35ª edition of the mythical test.

 

 

The participants will have to travel 3800m of swimming in the Pacific waters with the handicap of the strong currents of the zone and the prohibition of the neoprene by the temperature of the water. Cycling along the Hawaiian territory during 180km of cycling overcoming the strong gusts of wind and to finish a marathon supporting the presence of the sun.

Christal Nylin helped many athletes to fulfill their dream by devising a specific piece for the practice of triathlon. Nylin was in charge of making the first trisuit of history with the intention of saving time in transitions. The participants ordered their garments from one year to the next. This 2013 is the 30 anniversary of the brand specializing in triathlon. This year, 3 has been in existence for decades Nylin joined two garments making the first specific suit for the practice in competition of the three disciplines. Zoot has announced that it is preparing a big party once the mythical test in The Big Island is over. The expected celebration aims to return to the origin of triathlon, commemorate the 80 years and honor the beginnings of the brand.

One of the participants that has the best material of the brand is the new Zooter Jordi Matos who will play the championship among the triathletes of the 30-34 age group.

 

Jordi Matos will start on his second long distance race. He zooter qualified this season in Klagenfurt, Austria, with a time

total of 09: 10: 05 in its first Ironman. In just over a year in the

triathlon world has already achieved the dream of many, the opportunity

to take the exit in the most representative test of the triathlon.

 

To achieve his goal he has traveled 10 days before the test. The

interview to this future promise of long distance with the intention of know a little more about the character. I got hooked on the tri after getting into the world of popular racing. I have run 10km, half marathons until I decided to do the Donostia marathon. There I got off from 3h. Having seen what I saw, I decided to enroll in the IM of Austria. In preparation for the IM I started at the Extreme Man in Menorca 2012. I got an 11th place which injected me with an extra dose of motivation for my long distance debut. Iván Herruzo began to carry out my sports planning and since then I have not stopped making a profit.

 

I did not intend to get a place for Hawaii but I had everything planned. From breakfast to the way to reach the goal. He had no references of partial or objectives, the only thing he knew with certainty is that it would be so-gifted finisher,.

 

In the IM of Austria the swimming was spectacular. I maintained a good pace and tried not to deviate too much from the marked circuit. The cycling segment had it very studied. I tried to take an average of 37km / ha to some 155 pulsations and with a pedaling cadence between 85-95 ppm. Finally, keeping a bit of strength, I finished the cycling tour in less than 5 hours.

 

The positive feelings came in the T2 when I went running to the rhythm of 4 'km. The motivation and the rush of overcoming toured my body to see that I did not stop winning positions. At that time I believed in the possibility of going to Kona. Unfortunately in the 33 km I asked. I started to feel bad, to be hungry, to discourage myself ... My partner and my friends encouraged me, it was time to make the last effort. I managed to go back to 4.30 'rhythms until I reached the finish line with a final 9 time: 10: 05 in my Ironman distance debut. From that moment I think firmly that "Anything is possible".

 

It has been an unexpected reward, it has been, for me, a great feat, a dream fulfilled. The fact of qualifying for Kona in the first Long Distance test that I have disputed has meant a change in my approach. These results have given me a tremendous dose of energy.

 

My goals have changed course. In these moments I think about doing a good role in Kona, my second Ironman, and next year trying to improve brands. I really have very little in this and I hope to have a lot of room for improvement and, above all, enjoy.

 

This September I competed in a medium distance triathlon and got the 7ª absolute position and I reached the 4º in my category. The truth is that I have been training very hard this summer and I have obtained the reward.

It's my second Ironman and I'm in Hawaii, I can not go wrong, whatever the result I should be happy.

 

I know that the lack of experience plays against me but I intend to concentrate on the race, give my best and enjoy the opportunity to run with the best in the world.

 

In Austria I went out without pressure for being the first Ironman. I would like to go out on 12 day with the same mentality. I flew to Hawaii 10 days before the big date to acclimatize as best as possible to the weather conditions and geography of the territory. I know myself and I am very competitive, I want to have things very well planned.

I am sure that the effort made in training at Club Dir de Barcelona and the specific material for this type of competitions that Zoot has given me will be able to perform well.

 

I can not tell you what the key to success is but if I had to bet on something I would do it by running head first. In any race you should go to look for good sensations, without pressure, enjoying every moment.

 

The most experienced in the business have recommended a good acclimatization. It is essential to control the time change, the feeding, the training in the area and to arrive in optimal conditions on the expected day. I have tried to take all these factors into account and that is why I have traveled 10 days before the test.

 

The climate of Hawaii makes it necessary to have a good hydration the days before the race and during the course of it.

 

In swimming I will try to catch some good feet that will mark a swimming rhythm that suits my possibilities. I consider cycling as my strong point so I will pedal along the 180km with a head, without going to the limit but at a high pace. When I go down to run I will stop controlling pulsations and I will be guided by my sensations. If I have a good day I will risk, I will control the hydration and the food intake and I will go for it all.

 

I have one thing very clear, the key is to ENJOY!
