Garmin's new bets for the bicycle

Garmin, the world leader in portable navigation solutions, presents its two new and compact onboard computers for cyclists: Edge® 20 and Edge® 25.

Two devices that draw attention for their small size, only 4,0 × 4,2 × 1,7 cm, and for integrating multiple benefits of vital importance for cyclists in their outings and training. A safe bet both for design and versatility and with features that help cyclists to always go further in their daily challenges.

Very smart computer

Garmin Edge® 25 has all the features of these devices and adds, as a differential point, smart notifications when linked with a compatible smartphone. In this way, the user will be able to know his messages and incoming calls with just a glance at the screen of his GPS.

It also has Bluetooth® technology, which makes it possible to easily and quickly connect to a Smartphone to automatically synchronize and transfer or load activities, trainings or routes through the Garmin Connect online community. And just by communicating the Edge® device via Bluetooth® with the smartphone, the cyclist can, through the Garmin Connect Mobile APP, invite his companions to follow in real time their exact position at every moment and the route or type of training you are following at that moment, thanks to the Live Track function

And as additional equipment, it is possible to link it with ANT + ® sensors to track the cadence, as well as the speed and distance also indoors.

All the data you need

Equipped with GPS, Garmin Edge® 20 and Edge® 25 capture and offer the essential statistics of any route, including time, distance, speed, total ascent and location.

the same way, when they are linked to a heart rate band (optional), they record the heart rate and the heart rate zone, so it is possible to know when the target has been reached. Compatibility with heart rate data also provides more accurate information about calories during travel.

One way, multiple options

During journeys, cyclists can also choose different tools to be aware of their achievements or, better, improve brands and results. Thus, they are provided with the Virtual Partner function, thanks to which the cyclist competes against a virtual partner and can compare the real data according to the previously marked objectives and measure the progress with respect to previous training.

Also, cyclists will enjoy other tools such as Auto Pause, in which the device stops the timer automatically when it detects that the user's rhythm has descended to levels below the established threshold; Auto Lap: by which the GPS automatically marks a new return to the user; or time / distance alerts, in which sound alerts indicate when the user has reached a previously established goal.

Segments and routes in Garmin Connect

With the Garmin Connect segments, it is possible to compete with other cyclists and see the results after the tour in the ranking shown in the online community. Added to this is the possibility of including alerts on the start and end points of each segment on the device.

On the other hand, connecting to Garmin Connect also translates into the possibility of choosing the routes followed by others or creating your own. When a route is chosen, it is only necessary to transfer it easily to the device.

Finally, Garmin Edge® 20 and Edge® 25 are equipped with a lithium battery that offers a range of up to 10 hours, are compatible with Glonass which, in combination with GPS, provides unparalleled accuracy in any situation, and are resistant to water according to IPX7 classification.
