Pablo Dapena returns to competition at IRONMAN 70.3 KNOKKE-HEIST 

The Galician triathlete Pablo Dapena is ready to return to competition this weekend at the IRONMAN 70.3 KNOKKE-HEIST.  

2023 has not been an easy year for Dapena. A stress fracture in his toe kept him out of competition for part of the year.  

Despite all the setbacks of the injury tried to compete in the Challenge Salou in June, but was unable to complete the test.  

But the Galician triathlete does not give up and has been training intensely in Pontevedra to return to the competition as soon as he was ready.  

Favorites 

The IRONMAN 70.3 KNOKKE-HEIST will be held in the Flanders region, Belgium. The test consists of a swim in the North Sea, followed by a flat cycling and running circuit.  

Dapena will face international rivals, including the local Pieter Heemeryck and other notable trialtettes such as Kenneth Vandendriessche, Kyle Smith y Patrik Nilsson.

Circuits 

The circuit begins with a 1.9 km swim in the waters of the North Sea, characterized by its unpredictability and changing currents. 

 Next, the triathletes will face a 90 km flat cycling segment, where speed and strategy will be key to achieving a good time.  

Finally, the 21 km foot race will also be on flat terrain and with 3 laps, where it will be the last obstacle before crossing the finish line.  

Knokke-Heist: A Belgian Charm on the Coast 

Knokke-Heist is located in the north-west region of Belgium and is the greenest municipality along the coast.  

The city offers impressive diversity: beaches, dunes, salt marshes, as well as polders, ponds, reed beds and forests.  

In addition, it has luxury hotels, excellent restaurants and art galleries. 

Schedule  

The IRONMAN 70.3 KNOKKE-HEIST is scheduled for Sunday, September 17 of 2023.  

The official departure will be at 9:00 am local time in Belgium (same time in Spain.)
