The City of Santander Triathlon: Two distances to enjoy
El Santander City Triathlon This year it will celebrate its sixth edition on September 22, where this year it will have 2 distances.
It was recently announced the inclusion of a distance half at its traditional Olympic distance, which positions it nationally also at that distance.
The test offers participants the possibility of choosing between its 2 competitions and the opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful urban environments in Spain.
Two Distances, Double Emotion
Olympic Distance Course
The course for the Olympic distance begins with 1.500 meters of swimming in the bay of Santander, marked by 3 buoys and with the tide beginning to rise, which favors swimmers as they have the current in their favor for much of the journey.
Safety is guaranteed by boats with lifeguards and rescue equipment.
Afterwards, the triathletes will face 41 kilometers of cycling, in a circuit closed to traffic that will take them through the Magdalena Peninsula. The race ends with 10,5 kilometers of foot race, on a circuit that runs through bike lane areas and streets closed to traffic, passing through iconic places in Santander and ending at the Zaera Dune.
Middle Distance Tour
For those looking for a greater challenge, the middle distance offers 1.900 meters of swimming under the same favorable and safe conditions as the Olympic distance.
The cycling stage extends to 82 kilometers, doubling the challenge with a tour that promises to be as physically and technically demanding, touring the city and its surroundings with unparalleled views.
The 21 kilometers of foot race They present a final endurance test, with a circuit that requires athletes to complete six laps, passing through the same emblematic sites as the Olympic distance but with double the demands, before reaching the finish line at the Zaera Dune.
An Emblematic Tour
Both distances will allow participants to enjoy the Bay of Santander, with a swimming segment delimited by buoys and supervised by lifeguards, guaranteeing safety at all times.
The cycling circuit, closed to traffic, promises to be both a technical and physical challenge, with impressive views that only this city can offer.
The foot race, which crosses emblematic areas of Santander and culminates in the Zaera Dune, will be the finishing touch to this competition.
