Javier Gómez Noya returns to the IRONMAN circuit in February

After a year 2023 full of ups and downs, Javier Gómez Noya, the renowned Spanish triathlete, is preparing for his first big test of the year: the IRONMAN 70.3 Tasmania.

This event, which will be held next 4 of February, marks the return in 2024 of 'El Capitan' to the international circuit, where he hopes to revalidate his status as one of the greats of world triathlon.

2023 was a year of contrasts for Gómez Noya.

After overcoming multiple physical challenges, the Galician returned to the competition with victories in the Triathlon City of Santander, the epic triathlon of Oropesa del Mar, the Vigo Half Marathon and the IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay

However, his participation in the IRONMAN 70.3 Taupo was cut short by a penalty and a subsequent puncture, which forced him to abandon the race.

Now, in 2024, Gómez Noya is wasting no time and focuses on his next challenge: the IRONMAN 70.3 Tasmania.

Athletes will face a course that begins with a swim in the fresh waters of the Derwent River, followed by a demanding cycling circuit with a cumulative elevation gain of 1.125 meters.

The foot race, although flat, will be the last test of endurance for the competitors.

Gómez Noya, who has already secured his place for the 70.3 2024 World Championship in Taupo, New Zealand, is presented as one of the favorites for victory in Tasmania.

However, the competition will not be easy. He will face athletes of the caliber of Cameron Wurf o Braden Currie  among others.
